"target shooters"

I've heard different people on the board mentioning something about target shooters getting to keep their handguns if a possible ban takes place. Does IPSC count as being a target shooter? Should I take my black badge course while I still can?
 
As far as I have heard If you have an ATT and are an active target shooter as a member of a club. In other words you shoot your guns you do it legally at a club no worrys. Look we have to see what is going to happen. As I stated before, Federally we are screwed if the Libs come back. Provincally Its up to our govenment to join the ban. So far the west is hinting no chance they will complie. But like I said, we better keep up the fight and not let our guard down. Getting your black badge would be good because it is a great sport. But not all clubs offer that. Support your club the more members the better.
 
I would have to think that the liberal gov't would try to make the target shooter classification as difficult to comply with as possible(part of thier eliminate the sport one step at a time attitude), so we do have to get them out of office. Ralph has already said Alberta will opt out, but the issue remains, IMO, that if we have another lib gov't our friends down east are in trouble. I don't think that the firearms community, in general, wants to see the eastern handgun owners pack it in.Paulina Martin wants us out west to think that we are safe, and expects us to leave the rest of Canada out to dry.

It`s not about who should keep what or whatever it`s about playing games just like the Lieberals do ,you will have a much better legal case with as many 'target shooting' references as you can get. The more members your federally APPROVED target ranges have the better.
The federal gov approves through the CFC handgun uses, right now all you have in options are Collector or Target Shooter.
The provincial gov approves ATT`s on restricted weapons for target shooting at approved target ranges.
I don`t know which gov approves the actuall target range but one of them did or both.
We all know this is just a freedom robbing liberal ####### response aimed at the WRONG people but IF we have to fight them legally down the road on what a "target shooter" is when can hedge our bets NOW.
Screw that Olympic shooter crap I AM A TARGET SHOOTER and so are all my fellow target range members.
 
Remember that when the ban on 10+ magazines came out, there was a written exemption for competition shooters. The government turned around and said, "I'm sorry, but we don't recognize IPSC as a legitimate shooting competition." Nobody was ever granted the exemption.
 
everytime I log on there's 5 or 6 posts saying how people can keep thier guns because they are target shooters. the answer to that is NO.

you must be an olympic ranked shooter. GOOD LUCK with that.

Yup.....absolutely, positively correct.
This thing passes and none of us keeps their guns. "Target shooters" according to the government? pffff...sure..gimme a break.

So how many "olympic ranked shooters" (whatever the hell that means) are there in Canada? Two...three? Who decided that "olympic" shooting was the only legitimate shooting sport anyway? :mad:

Well what are you going to do about it? Wait and find out. I for one, will not wait and let them take my guns. I'm sick of people backing down and accepting that they will just become target shooters. Do you believe in your heart that they will want you to keep your gun? NO. Martin said his plan to take all guns from us, has been in the works for years.

The Lieberal mushead gun grabbing machine will stop at nothing to get your rpistols and "military style" rifles, then they will grab your long guns.
The only way is to vote Conservative, and convince everyone you know to do the same.
 
What makes any of you daydreamers think that you should (or will) have any input when it comes to the Liberal government defining "target shooters"? You MUST understand by now that they have no intention of allowing ANYONE in Canada to own guns. Why would they just allow the status quo definitions to carry on now that they have announced intentions to BAN the private ownership of handguns???

And yes, limiting handgun ownership to only olympic-type shooters will rule out 99.9% of handgun owners... That's the whole point of the exercise!!!! I don't understand why any of you would think for a second that the libs have any interest at all in letting any of us keep our guns. Stop looking for the silver lining and instead put ALL of your energy and effort into doing what you can to make sure that the liberal candidate in your riding does not get elected.

And I wouldn't bet the farm on the provincial "opt out" either. If this law is enacted, it will be a federal law. It has yet to be seen what the level of provincial participation will be anyway. For instance, if the feds ban the importation and sale of new handguns in Canada, it's not like stores in Alberta will be able to import new guns without violating federal law just because Alberta hasn't banned private ownership....

OK who cares if they say target shooter can keep there gun every one know that its BS its time to get off all of our asses and make sure that the lib's dont get voted in because it will just be a matter of time befor we hear from them again about banning some other gun next they will not stop this till they have EVERY GUN away from us and for the shooter with the att that there not banning my gun so who care you just wait and see we as gun owers are all on the list .So you better give you head a good shake and stand together
