tasco varmint

One scope does not a whole line or brand make. I've had lots of Tasco scopes, and I've never had a single problem, EVER! I like other scopes, but have no problem with using the Tasco Varmint/Target. I have one on my .308 target, and it works great, and I use the highest power all the time.

I have a couple tascos beside's the lemon and a few bushnells as well. I had a brand new bushnell wth the lighted retical that would'nt work after a week of owning it I got a hold of them they sent me a new one no ques asked. I have the prob with this tasco and I was given the run around. So yes I agree I maybe a little biast in sayin that thier crap when clearly it maybe just that one scope but once bitten twice shy and that's just my 2 cents.

You're calling a whole brand of scopes crap simply due to one lemon and bad customer service?

There are many people here to believe in Bushnells and yet Bushnell cant have REALLY crappy customer service (according to some members) yet those people still believe in the scopes.

There are members here who have stated that Tasco has really good customer service....

Get Over it that it that's just my opinion I don't like them! Obviously you do! good for you! just leave it at that or must we carry on!

Had one on my 700 5r in a .308, no problems, held zero and did it's job until I got the bushnell 6500 tactical 4.5-30 :D Now my friend has it on his 700 sps tactical in .308 and it's still going strong.

I have had 3 different 6-24x tasco varmint scopes, all were junk! The front lense was not aligned correctly, so when you adjusted the front parallax, the blody cross hairs essentially moved.

Maybe I had a really bad run with them and got the only bad ones in the production run, but either way, I won't buy another tasco varmint scope.

Since those, I tried out the tasco world class 4-16 scopes. So far so good, they are all good of the few I have and use. Decent zero hold and adjustments are pretty consistent.

FWIW, I had two 2.5x10 Varmints on different rimfire rifles. They performed very well for the money. I was quite pleased with them and eventually upgraded them with a Falcon Menace and a Bushnell Elite 3200. I sold one and still have one as a 'spare' scope. Mine are at least 5 years old. Not sure what the new ones are like.

I met a trijicon dealer this year

hey how are you this deer season in ontario we had a young lad from Vermont whom bought the land adjacant to us and he turned out to be a trijicon rep. He was very enthusiastic about his brand as most salesman were but he also used one he was shooting a ruger hawkeye I believe in 7mm and a nice trijicon scope and he told me he would never buy another brand again as he swears by it

I have the exact same problem with my Tasco Varmint for the parallex adjustment. It moved just like you said.

I bought this one in 2006 and parked it along with a new 22-250 savage rifle ever since. i was so mad the gun took it on the chin too. I went back to the original team of Ruger HB 220 swift and the bushell.

i have since bought a Tikka HB varmint 204 ruger, and put a NOS Simmons Aetec on it. It was made in the Phillipines. i like this setup too, but I hear that the Simmons Aetec are now China-junk.

Wanting to shoot the 22-250 again, i just reciently I put the boresighter on the Savage 22-250 and i adjusted the AO of the Tasco and the cross hairs moved quite a bit.

Just curious, does anyone that has parallex adjustment with the same issues?

I picked up a 2.5-10x42 mildot (with a lit reticle) on a trade and put it on my black powder gun. I put it there as it was the only spare laying around at the time. Surprisingly clear for the price and still holds zero after 50 or so shots. I took a deer with it at 175 yards on Monday. No complaints here. This is also my only Tasco. I've pooched several Bushy Banners and won't be using that line anytime soon. My other scopes are Nikon or Zeiss.

I've run a 6-24 on a .22-250 for hundreds if not over 1000 rounds, and it was dead solid, reliable, and precise (I dialed the adjustment turrets all over the place, and they were always accurate and always returned to zero). I typically used the scope at or below 16x, since you needed really good light to get any sort of decent resolution at higher magnification. That was my only qualm. I upgraded the scope on that rifle to a Hawke Frontier 4-16x42AO, and the Tasco Varmint ended up sitting in the gun safe. I've used it to test rifles (.243, .308, etc) whose accuracy had gone down hill, and the majority of the time, accuracy was restored when I installed the Tasco, meaning that the more expensive scope that was being used on the gun was faulty. That Tasco is very reliable.

Somebody else in this thread said they had one on their M14. I tried this with a 6-24x varmint... would not hold a zero. I should have known
