I am thinking about getting one of the cheap 2.5-10x to mount on my stevens 200 223 for now. Does anyone have ay experiance with this scope? The gun will mostly be used for plinking after work and the such and possibly some day a coyote

I got one on my m14 but who know's how long it will last. Over 200 rounds and it still is ticking but who know's. For the price you can't go wrong. Well at least until Trijicon release's there acupoint green mildot model for me anyways.

I tried a higher powered one once and it was not clear at all at the higher powers, not even close to the 3200s or even Weavers, I had to turn power down to try see bullet holes on the target and mirage was not the prob.

I've got the 6-24x42 and it's great for the price. I've had it on a 30-06 and it now sits on a model 96 swede. Haven't tried the 2.5-10 yet.

And yes, they have lifetime warranty.

Tasco 2.5 x 10 Varmint

These scopes seem to stand up well on rimfires as well as centerfires. I have one on a Mini-14 with 1000+ rounds and no problems.

Had one on my M70 .223 Coyote. My son used it extensively for Service Rifle. That use involved cranking up the turrets and then bringing them down during the Match 12 500m to 100m rundown. Worked well without a hitch!

Took many groundhogs with it. Carried that rig lots and lots. Never failed me. Sold the scope and rifle when I bought a Winchester M70 Stealth II in .308. For $ 100 I felt I could not go wrong!

my 3 rd one work fine, but the 2 first that i got on a 22-250 did not kept there zero and were foging everytime i get them out of the case. bad batch i guest.

I'm running a 10-40x50mm on a .308 and so far I haven't had a single problem after 200+ rounds. Clarity seems fine to me, when you crank it up to max power all it needed was a slight adjustment of focus and voila, all better. IMO you can't go wrong for the price.

Cheers,

I had one a few years ago and it was okay in the lower power settings, but it lost a lot of clarity if you went beyond 12-15 power. I now have a Vortex Crossfire 6-24X50 30mm tube with illuminated reticle and I really like it. It is a great scope for the money (approx $300) nice and clear, bright optics and it seems to track well. I don't have many shots fired yet, but so far I like it.

I use the Varmint largely for load development (spared me from carrying the spotting scope). It has been used for 300WM and 45/70 without any issue. The scope has its limitation - it's not very clear in high magnification. Heat from the barrel also affects its performance more than say a VXIII.

It is a great value for what it does! :D

Here's my story:

Won one in a Rimfire shooting competition so I replaced the NcSTAR on my Savage Mark II in .22LR with the Tasco Varmint 6-24 mildot.

Bought a Remington VTR in .308 and ordered a Bushnell Banner 6-24 mildot for it (ran outta money buying the VTR so I had to pick up a "cheap" scope, paid $120 shipped for a brand new Banner from the EE).

Anyways I took the Tasco Varmint off the .22LR and threw it onto the VTR because I was dying to shoot it. I have yet to be let down by the Varmint after firing about 200 rounds down range with it.

Finally the Bushnell Banner arrived and threw it onto the VTR. 10 shots later it was losing focus after every couple shots, a lemon. Sent it back to Bushnell for warranty repair. I threw the Tasco Varmint back onto the VTR while waiting and was out shooting with it perfectly.

A couple days ago the Brand New Bushnell Banner arrived from Bushnell as Warranty Replacement and Im having a hard time justifying on taking the Varmint off the VTR! :D

Yes the Varmint has problems with very high magnification 20-24x, it can get really "foggy" looking.

Here's a little tip though with the Varmint on getting the most out of it:

If you turn the bell (AO) up to at least 100 yards and then look at a target that is at least 100 yards away you can easily get up to 20x magnification looking nice and clear. The 24x magnification ALWAYS looks fuzzy.

The problem I find is trying to look at a target at say 50 yards with anything over 16x magnification makes it look "foggy" no matter what the AO is set at.

I had the scope in the back seat when my dad and I were heading out to a lake fishing and we seen a moose 600 yards away on the other side of the lake. Cranked the AO to the max and then set the magnification up 20x and we could see the moose clear as day!

Their CRAP I had one on my 17 hmr and within a year the gas leaked and I could'nt seem to get a hold of anybody at Tasco to help so I gave up. So I bought a Olivion and it worked fine for a around the same price.

Gotta love how people state something is crap because they purchase ONE and it happens to be a lemon.

I could say that all Bushnell are crap since the first one I got was broken

:D
