I picked this up used for $40 and put it on my Savage Mk II BVSS in 22. I sighted the gun in at 31 metres (yes I have a range finder) and took it out on the week to spend some time trying to hit 4" clays at 233 metres (yes same range finder). So I used a Ballistics program, wind/temperature meter and some guesses on the parameters and the program said around 30 or so MOA adjustment (can't recall the exact adjustment now). So I did 25 MOA and about 5-6 MOA for the wind and after 15 spotters we discovered my windage was good but elevation was off by about a metre. I cranked the scope up another 36 clicks up (all I could get) and back and forth with the windage as the wind changed up/down and left right and after using the mil dots I finally hit the target (about 1 in 15 shots).

So with all that pre-amble. I get back to my cabin, set up a target at 31 metres and crank the scope back to where it was....it was off by about 1/4" at 31 metres. I am thinking that is pretty good for a $40 scope.

I am planning on upgrading but not in any rush at this time.

Cheers

Yep sounds about right. I had the 6-24x and 10-40x.
The 40x had more power but the exit puple was so small, it made it tough to use.
Still not bad for $200 new.

I agree on the 6-24x42. I have two with the mildot and they work just great for the price. One is on a .22 for paper shooting and the other is on my .223 American compact for paper and yotes. Just wish I could find some more Mueller's in Canada.

High end Bushnell scopes are as low on the quality ladder as I will go.
I have too much respect for my rifles to put junk glass on them.
The Barska, Tasco and Simmons crap can stay on the shelves.
My goto scope brand is Leupold.

I've had a few of these over the years. They work fine for punching paper at the range, but as soon as the sun starts to drop or you try to look into a distant treeline their "quality" shows with a complete lack of detail. Shadows are all you see, no definition.

Ha Tasco! Cheap chinese crap! I put one on my 597....worked ok for a while. By ok I mean you can either focus the target OR the cross hairs but not both as they are not in the same plane.
By a while I mean until the scope stops holding zero and won't adjust corectly.

If you think that a tasco is the cats pajamas then you haven't used a GOOD scope yet.

Nobody said the Tasco 6-24 X by 42 is a high end scope! What was said is that this particular Tasco scope is a surprisingly good scope considering it's price.

Yep, I don't own any $1,000 scopes but I have a quite a few in the $300 to $800 range. I will say, yes the optics on the 6-24 Tasco are certainly not 4200 Bushnell, Viper Vortex or Falcon quality as they are a bit fuzzy (I'd say Leupold and Tasco in the same sentence but that is like going to a hooker for hugs....). But lack of clarity aside...the ability to return to zero is what impressed me. I know it is not a "quality scope". I paid less for this scope than the tax on a Leupold :)

If I had unlimited gun funds all my guns probably all would have higher end optics on them. Just nice to see something not expensive, actually being quite useful for a change. And yes, I have Tasco, Bushnell, NcStar, Falcon and Vortex scopes. Everyone I own suits its purpose. I am sure a Leupold, Sightron or Zeiss will end up in my hands someday...just not today...

If your going sub $350 id almost say just get a Bushnell legend had a 4.5x14 44mm +mill dot on my 243 for years and its been a great scope for the price.
got mine on sale for like 200$ a few years ago its been on that rifle since with no issues.

Tasco, Simmons, Barska - all cheap junk.
Why insult a good rifle by mounting cheap junk on it?
You're shooting combination is only as good as its cheapest component.
If you have a junk scope on a good rifle you're still shooting junk that sooner or later (probably sooner) will let you down in the field.

Hundred dollar scopes are worth the brown one they represent.
There is a Tasco 6x18 AO in the box on the shelf here admiring the inside
of the box it came in.

Please do yerself a flavour and find out what nice glass is all about.

LOL.

To each their own.

This is what I did with my ####ty scope today at 92 meters with Winchester white box 22s... The lower right target is a personal best.
