Taurus 1911

^I think the 'originals' were Berettas; it was part of the contract for Beretta to build manufacturing plant in Brazil and when the contract was over Taurus bought the plant with all the equipment. Taurus never really made Berettas. But they did use their equiptmant...

About the Spartan; I've never been a fan of parkarized finish. I would like to see better photos of the gun, but so far I prefer the looks of the PT1911 to be honest. No to mention it is about $50 more...with less features (no chekering, or ambi safety)

How can they be $50 more then a gun that isn't even for sale yet?:D
I had an extended ambi safety and extended slide stop on my 1911 for about 2 weeks, both were changed out to standard parts as I found them kind of pointless. I also run smooth grips on all my guns, I found checkered grips would chaff my hands after a good day at the range. So checkering on the front strap is also pointless to me......:D
Pretty much every rifle I own is of US milsurp origin so I'm partial to the parkerizing.

I see on US websites that the stainless version of this is out now, anybody in canada seen one,?? I would like to pick one up for a decent price.

thanks
john

They had them in Kamloops for about $950 for the blued. It seemed like a decent gun but with the kimber prices at TSE at par with the US MSRP it is a bit of a toss up.

For that kinda money I'd go for the Kimber or add a few bucks & get an STI. THe Taurus 1911 will only be a seller in Canada if they can keep the prices down.

At least it ain't a Chi-com...

Had that very pistol in my hand at the Taurus booth at last year's SHOT SHOW in Orlando. I liked it.
The good people at Taurus made some very fine stuff. My Taurus model 85 stainless steel 5 shot 38special revolver is better, and cheaper than a similar S&W!
Hell, even High Standard makes 1911's.

Yes the stainless vesion is now out in the US, but not too yet availabe here...

Another member said he got a blued one ftom Wholsesale sports. I called them and they confirmed that they have a couple in stock. Stainless model is on order... Blued one is $829.95... a lot compared to the US prices. Hopefully they will be cheaper once more of them are imported into Caanda. (I was quated $750 for stainless by a couple of stores but that was over a year ago when the gun was non existant...)

Yes I got one at Wholesale sports, $830. It's quite nice, nice trigger. Its not blue but black an the finish isn't very strong as in wearing very good. The stainless was comming when ever, I couldn't wait for it.

Yup they need to keep the prices down. Alot of 1911 on the market already. Only the less expensive 1911 niche needs to be filled. Otherwise there are TONS of high end 1911s out there

37yrs ago I bought a Browning BDA 45cal. made by Sauer, designed by SIG in Switzerland. All the IPSG big boys laughed at my choice of guns, they had 1911s. MY browning is still looks fine an is very accurate right out of the box.
Their 1911s had tobe worked on big time to shoot anygood, much bucks too.
20 yrs ago I bought a Remington Rand gov issue for 500. an I guess somebody would have laugh at that too, but am I to care what others do or don't do, I don't think so. So I bought the Taurus PT1911 for $830.

A Kimber Custom II NIB from a Board sponser is $795. I'm all for Taurus but having owned many of both guns IMHO Kimber is at least 2 notches above Taurus.
