Taurus PT1911

They got a good review from this month Rifleman. Nice pistol, but I have been trying to get a Taurus PT92 sear for about a year. Nobody has parts, Miami won't deal with me unless I send the whole pistol to them and they won't guarantee they will be able to ship it back to Canada without any problems. I have tried about a dozen gunsmiths and several gun part dealers. I am leery about ever getting another Taurus again.

I was going to start a thread on this gun myself... :)

No they aren't available here just yet, but I'm sure they WILL be soon. Right now only blued version is available in US (and only been out for a pretty short time)

Here’s some photos from Taurus website

I'm not a .45 fan but I might just have to get one in stainless, I hope they'll make one in 10mm.

The stock on the sear is the same as it has been for the last year:

This item is currently sold out.
We frequently purchase new & used parts from many sources.
Make note of the item number and try back in 30-60 days.

I have tried Brownells to no avail.

Generally not a Taurus fan but might have to make an exception for this model, especially if all the parts are mil-spec fit... ;) :D

After reading this thread I went looking for new info on the PT1911, and I found this picture of a production model. There's some slight changes from the prototypes that have been used for reviews, but overall it seems to be a terriffic value. If these make it into Canada in any quantity they'll be serious competition for the Tanfoglios and lower-end Springers.

56k modem killing picture!

If I had to pick nits, the only real beef I'd have with this pistol is the exaggerated STI style slide serrations.

That's an awsome photo 1851 Navy...

This guns looks way better than Tanfoglio 1911 or SA GI even better than a Mil-spec IMO. Doen't look any worse than a KImber  :)

"assuming you looked at the photo, how many 1911s have you seen with checkered trigger guard at the bottom?"

Everyone I own Except the NP29, haven't got around to doing it yet. It's not an uncommon mod. It really helps gun control with the high rate of fire involved in IPSC shooting. When I grip a gun without it my weakhand index finger tends to slide up infront of the triggerguard.

The real question is how does it shoot and how does it hold up in the long run? I have a strong suspicion that in order to achieve a rock bottom price, Taurus had to cut quite a few corners in the materials quality department and stuff that gun with cost-saving MIM and cast internals. I'd be happy to be proven wrong, however.
