Tavor 7 - 7.62x51 FRT Has Dropped. Non-Restricted w/20" Barrel!

Over $3000......and you will see them selling for $1500 in the EE in two years.....

Tavors are in my opinion short range rifles, excellent for close quarter combat..... I just don't see a .308 Tavor being something I would want....... and don't get me wrong, I have a SOCOM 16 :D :D :D

Does anyone have any news on the ETA in Canada and early reliability reports?

Sorry for bumping this if nothing is floating around.

A shiny new X95 needs 600$ for a trigger pack and another 200$ for a trigger
Shooting in awkward positions behind cover caused some FTE for me. again more training may rectify this issue, but the last thing I wanna do is worry about were my arm is to the ejection pattern.
different manual of arms so more training is needed and this was really apparent for me during covering and movement drills. as I fall back to my AR training under stress.
Unless you upgrade your shell deflector you will be eating brass during transition drills.
Your shiny new X95 need a GHW port cover to stop the blowback
I must be forgetting a few things but this is why i went back to ARs as my main training platform. But I do break out the X95 once in a while to remind myself how much I love ARs. :)
Accuracy of my X95 is worse than that POS T97 i used to own...lol..

I still haven't taken apart or clean my X95 since I got it. well over 4K rounds now and Thats pretty cool from a reliability standpoint. But I built my MVs for half the price, have a better trigger, will be lighter and should be MOA without fancy reloads.

For me the biggest issue is the manual of arms, I cant undo 20 years of AR training.

If the Tavor 7 is MOA or better its a winner in my books for a cool compact hunting rig.
I've got tens of thousands of rounds fired on both the AR-15 and Tavor platforms. I wouldn't say that the Tavor trigger is an ABSOLUTELY necessary replacement. After-all, it's not like the IDF are issuing their troops Geissele trigger equipped Tavors. They've been doing just fine for decades with the TAR-21, Micro Tavor, and now x95.

Only FTE I've had would be in an urban prone position with the rifle right next to the dirt. Easy remedy with a bullpup, shoulder bump it and shoot it from the higher shoulder. I've never experienced any issues with the deflector not being sufficient for left-hand shooting on my TAR-21. Haven't shot the X95 nearly as much though so it might be an isolated issue.

There is definitely a major change in the manual of arms though, you're 100% correct there. I wouldn't recommend switching back and forth unless you absolutely need to. Would always advocate to pick one or the other as your primary go-to platform.

The Non-Restricted models here will apparently be the 20 inch barrel options. Wouldn't really call a 20 inch barrel the ideal close quarter platform. Even if it's a bullpup. That said, definitely prefer a 20 inch bullpup to a 20 inch AR platform when lugging it around anywhere! Overall shorter package AND better weight distribution.

Did they make any improvement s to Tavor trigger ???
According to some of the SHOT Show coverage on it, yes. But a bullpup trigger with a linkage will never be able to compete with a solid AR style two-stage trigger. The Geissele trigger packs for the TAR-21 and X95 give a really nice single stage if configured correctly, but as pointed out above it's an $800 CAD upgrade.

Not really a bump, thread was only made yesterday! There's no availability information yet, the FRT was only just recently issued. I've been keeping an eye out for it. Not sure EXACTLY when it was issued, but I believe it was within the last couple of months.

yes sir--couldn't care what anybody says about tavs--i love em-have both and will buy the tav 7 for sure-different strokes i guess but i see fan boys on both sides here--like was said before-opinions are like arse holes--everyone has one--lol-cheers

"Spring 2019" seems to be the arrival date. Emailed IWI and that's what they indicated. Latest issue of Calibre(?) also had a spread stating this.

Pretty excited for these to land, however, pricing has to compete against the ar10 style rifles and accuracy has to step up.

The 308 black rifle category is pretty competitive right now.

I owned the tav-21 and the X95. Liked the ergonomics on the X95 better, but took the X95 to the range with 1-4x Elcan and Aguila 62 grain ammunition and off a stable front rest at 50 metres the grouping looked like a shotgun pattern. This is with the geiselle trigger bow and trigger pack. I was not at all impressed and decided to sell the rifle (disclosed the accuracy to the new owner prior to sale), but they wanted the gun for cqb. I don't think it was the optic or the ammunition and the shooter can shoot sub .5 moa with precision (not to brag).

Now hopefully mine was a one off as I remember the tav-21 having decent accuracy.

Hope everyone enjoys the Tav-7 though.
