Tavor 7 accuracy???

2 moa seems doable for most T7's. It's not nearly as bad as people seem to think. Mine is around 2 moa with 147gr pmc .308 if I do my part, haven't tried any other ammo yet. I expect slightly better with match ammo.

Edit: I missed the whole second page of this thread.. seems there may be a bit of variance between barrels or something. Some people seem to have much better luck than others, so maybe 3 moa is a more realistic average than 2 moa. I still think it's a great rifle for the conditions and restrictions we have to deal with here in Canada.

I'm a bit late to this party, but I just came back from the range today. I managed this once it broke in. I was using PMC 147gr @100 yards. I'm going to start exploring what hunting ammo to use for bear this spring in the next while.

I seem to remember that the Tavor 7 was designed for the north American civilian market - and not designed for the IDF unlike the X95 / TAR 21. So it was not designed as a DMR for the IDF, which would have required better accuracy. However, I suppose you are extremely limited now to any 7.62mm battle rifle these days. FAMAE 542....some unicorn Valmet or other obscure rifle that the RCMP somehow missed - I sometimes think the guy in charge of picking things on the "list" is a secret gun lover and purposely omits his personal favourites.

Best I got was like 2.5 MOA - multiple scopes multiple ammo.
Luck of the draw with these.

Compared to an APC308 I get 1 MOAish reliably

Watch out - if what you are looking for is "accuracy" I don't think the T7 is a good firearm for it.

Edit: Lol i already posted in here, whups

Couple suggestions for accuracy with a Tavor.

1) you need a 1.5” height ring or mount. The one Bartok shows is the same as I used on a Dpls G2. Worked great. But too low for a Tavor. Must have been uncomfortable as hell. Sight picture and Erhos do affect your shooting. Especially with a semi auto that has a slow lock time.

2) Supporting the rifle. Like the PE90, the barrel isn’t free floated. Bags and bipods can change POI noticeably. With the regular Tar 21, The podium bipod and a rear bag solved that issue.

3) It’s an 18.5” 1:12 twist barrel. Ammo has to take that into account.

4) The trigger. Need to keep the rifle on target through the shot longer due to a slow lock time.,plus it’s not a match trigger.

Those looking for a tactical rifle accurate semi auto non restricted. You can thank the Liberals for taking away the Stag10. Cost effective and could be easily made to be sub .5 moa. The Tavor 7 isn’t built for that. Still fun though.

Here's mine as I received it (I won it and yes, I'm a lucky sob). Not sure the ring height as I didn't save the box for the rings.

Silly question...the ring height I assume to be measured from the bottom to the center line? 1.5" from the bottom to the center of the ring?

Just measured mine and they are 1.25. If I were to buy the rings then 1.5" would certainly be better. Good thing my face smooches easily. No doubts about having a quality cheek weld for me.

Usually listed as extra high for rings. Also a number of one piece mounts that offer the height. Burris makes one that’s cost effective. Look isn’t my favourite but it does the job.

I'll most likely end up changing the rings at some point, but they'll do for now. I'll have a look at that Burris mount though.

MDT premiere scope rings are offered in 1.5”. They look good and the price is reasonable. Another option that won’t break the bank. The big names in one piece mounts are horrendously expensive. Yes Spuhr I’m looking at you!
