Tavor FAQ (updated 08 December, 2008)

hey guys, is the x95 still considered best in the .223/5.56 semi auto for what's left now?

B&T APC is a bit too expensive for me. Type 97, have heard mixed reviews, although half price of the x95 is enticing

Best bang for the buck if you can afford it. Type 97 is a viable option if you're tight for money, but an X95 is way more than twice as good of a rifle.

i have shot the tavor before and thought that the t97 was enough then i owned a t21 and that was it: especially for the left shooter im ...

Happy NEW Gun Day for me today. Just picked up a X95 in .223, been wanting one for a while, finally did it. Just looking for advice on extra mags. Which brands work well, which should I avoid. Only have the one included with the gun. 30 rounders pinned at 5 would be my preference (not crimped), but whatever feeds reliably is most important. Also, do you know who is selling your recommendation? Thanks in advance.

The x95 is actually chambered in 5.56. For bench shooting at the range I prefer 10 round flush mags. You'll find the 30 round mags are kind of in the way of the bench. It's fine for off hand shooting and the Israli's actually rely on the 30 round mag as a point of contact (1 of 6). Any Stanag 30 round mag will work well, don't overthink it.

Looking for some advice please. Which of these two firearms is more reliable, the Spectre Ltd. WS-MCR 556 or the Tavor X95 556

X95 is probably the most reliable platform on the face of this planet and I'm not even saying that facetiously.

The Ws on the other hand was made for Canadian civilian Shooters explicitly by a low budget company with equally low budget parts by comparison.

Does anyone know where to buy some aftermarket parts for my x95???
Seems like a lot of places are sold out….looking for and ejection port cover and a black pistol grip mainly….

I have only ever experienced the X95 to run flawlessly. Definitely would be my choice.

Yup, and you don't even have to clean it...I can run as much Winchester white box through it, not clean it and it functions flawlessly. Use LAR15 mags with mine.

Only thing of note I notice with mine (and apparently others have reported similar) is that upon case ejection it consistently puts a small dent in the brass casing. I suspect that is due to how aggressively it flings the spent casing and it's probably hitting a part of the ejector port on the way out.
