Tavor FAQ (updated 08 December, 2008)

Anyone find any videos or have any good tips on installing one of the tna linear compensators on the x95?

You could ask id64, he's got a bunch of photos of his rifle in this thread:

except for the fact the X95 OEM muzzle device uses a jam nut instead of a crush washer like in the video you posted. It would need to be removed along with the muzzle device. And you would need to order a crush washer unless you have a spare already, as the X95 does not come with one and the neither does the TNA linear compenstors as far as I know

Although a guy at my range had one on his X95 and ran no shims or crush washers. He would bring it in a backpack and for it to fit would have to remove the TNA linear comp so it would fit in the bag, and just thread it on and tighten by hand at the range

Was wondering if people are using the existing jam nut with new compensators or using a crush washer. I replaced the original birdcage with a VG brake but didn’t feel that much of a difference and I like the tacticool look of the fake can.

Too long in between updates . Come on Tavor owners , give us some more pics please . I like the Tavor lineup and need more pics so I can get ideas for mine when I’m ready to customize .
Love this thread !

All right, finally can attach pics. Here is mine I got back in November. Only option so far is a Vortex Spitfire 3X optic, a laser sight and Magpul sling. I shot a couple hundred rounds through it over the Christmas break and am loving it. Pondering what, if anything, to get next for it. It is a decent rifle out of the box.

Did you convert to left hand operation yourself? I have the left handed bolt and about to attempt the conversion of the ejection port (to left side) and charging handle (to right side).

Hey guys what's the consensus on the durability of this system especially in adverse conditions and with prolonged usage? Very tempted to take the plunge.

well the Israelis use it in the desert where it can go from hot to cold, I shoot mine all winter, so it handles the cold well. I wipe it clean of oil and use graphite, before shooting it outside in the winter. I live in Thunder Bay, so I have shot it in -40. I only had 1 stoppage in winter shooting, and that was on the cheap barnaul I plink with.

Any of the iwi Tavor series is going to be some of the most ridiculously reliable rifles ever concocted, the environment they were intended for could easily be argued as being the harshest there is. I personally don't think that there is a more dependable semi-auto available in Canada other than maybe a Valmet AK of which the Tavor series borrowed the incredibly robust gas system/action from.

How do you go about getting a 556 conversion kit for a 9mm Tavor? Finding a 9mm kit is breeze, but the 556 is non-existent.

I lost my extractor pivot pin on the bolt of my Tavor x95. I haven't found a bolts parts kit anywhere for the past few months. I was wondering if I could order a complete left hand bolt and take the pin from there? Does anyone know if that would work? View attachment 521747

It'll work, but damn...

Have you asked RDSC about ordering one? They've got them listed for backorder online.

Have you tried to see if an AR bolt, or another gun, has the same length/diameter pin?
Probably much cheaper that buying a wrong-sided bolt for a spare part.
