does anyone know if the x95 BCG can just plop right into the tar 21 gen 2.5 ready to rock n roll?
I was told yes. I bought a Gen 2.5 and was told it has the x95 BCG in it.
That being said, I've noticed that the mags in my tavor take a lot more effort to seat and remove than my AR. Is this normal? In fact, i find that the mag that the tavor comes with is easier to seat and remove than my PMAGS
It is SUPER hard to seat a full mag on a closed bolt with the Tavor. But remove? It shouldn't be hard, every mag I've used pops out effortlessly.
Thanks for the reply! What mags are you using? I believe I'm using Gen2 PMAGS. Also, how do I know if I have a Gen 2.5? I was told it can be figured out based on the BCG?
This is a myth. All magazines slightly raise the bolt hold-open. If memory serves, some of the steel ones were the worst offenders. So no, you're not going to damage your Tavor by using Gen2 PMAGs. But if you absolutely believe this - use the Gen3s.
I believe the best are the Lancer L5 and PMAG Gen3 (LAR-15s were average) but even those do nudge ever so slightly. You are absolutely correct. I've owned two TAR-21s that had bolt stopper damage using only USGI style magazines. This is a high wear item by design it seems. Google seems to show plenty of US stoppers with peening/damage. I have never had one manfunction even with the peening and deformation.
The whole rear sight block or just the rear sight itself? (the part that pivots)
Yeah, in my gun cabinet...Yea do you have any idea where to find one?
We exchanged correspondence and he's not actually missing the rear sight. He has a Gen 1.5 with a flat gas cylinder block that accommodates a larger third party short rail - so the flip-to-side rear sight wouldn't work as it requires the gas cylinder block with the fixed rear sight mount. This was the first attempt at a flat top Tavor model and there wasn't a lot of consideration given to BUIS (the Gen 2s/2.5s had the full rail with integrated/folding BUIS).That be the one you wouldn't sell me?![]()
