Tavor FAQ (updated 08 December, 2008)

There is an argument, not that the Liberals would consider it mind you, that guns like the ATRS MS or WK are manufactured specifically for the Canadian sport shooting market, and should therefore be exempt from their current gun grabbing efforts. But the Tavor and X95 are actually “military assault style weapons,” they are actually designed to shoot thousands of people per second. Or whatever.

So it’s only a matter of time.

There is an argument, that has already been made by the anti gun authoritarians, that sniper rifles are evil because they are deigned to kill from a long way away. Keep in mind that to an anti, any scoped, bolt action rifle is a sniper rifle.

I'm not handing in anything... I can't fully understand if I'm allowed to shoot it or not...I'm also wanting to sell it... hence not understanding what's been written...
An ARtype rifle... ya... that would get me in trouble if I had one to bring out... this one not sure where I'm at...

I got the IWI pistol grip and thin butt plate installed.

I like the pistol grip a lot more than the stupid cutlass grip. The pistol grip even has a finger grove much like the original AR15 grip, which I have always preferred as I take a very high grip and it helps me lock my fingers in solidly.

The thin butt plate works nicely. Its seems easier to shoulder and bring my eye to the optic than the thick one. Not really sure why?

I found the top of the exceedingly thick rubber buttpad would catch on my shoulder as I tried to slide it into position, and it really messes with the balance. While I think the cutlass grip is fine myself, the thin buttplate is must-have.

Anyone have issues inserting Pmags on a closed bolt? My cross mags and steel LAR mags work fine. Does the pin on the pmags make the 5th round too tight?

My rifle doesn't like to cycle certain types of ammo from PMags. I bought a number of metal mags just for the X95. I suspect some rifles drag the bolt on the PMag lips.

I have only played with the rifle with the thin butt pad installed in my gun room but yes, a sticky butt pad is not conducive to shouldering a rifle.

Would anyone happen to have chrono data of the 18.5 barrel? Preferably with M193 but whatever round works, trying to calculate something however I do not have a chrono myself.

I saw 3050 fps out of a 55gr test load last time. That load is maybe a wee bit hot. I think the final load will end up closer to 3000 fps

Where did you get them? I can't find anywhere that has both the thin butt plate AND black IDF grip in stock
