Tavor FAQ (updated 08 December, 2008)

Where did you get them? I can't find anywhere that has both the thin butt plate AND black IDF grip in stock

Funnily, they didn't have the OD grip in stock when I was after one, but they did have the black grip. I got the black grip and put my OD grip panels on it. Ended up looking really good.

I'm on that website which shall not be named, and I do see the thin butt plate listed as in stock ($30usd).

Yeah, I want to do exactly what you did - black pistol grip with my FDE grip panels. Should look good. No black pistol grip in stock ANYWHERE that I can see though.

Consider the gasketed ejection port cover. I've only had mine out once but it def seemed to reduce the gas wafting out into my face.

Question for my fellow X95 owners out there.

I took my typically reliable X95 last weekend to the club. Noticed something interesting which didn't happen before.

As with previous, I used the C Products Defense LAR15 metal mags (still legal).

So first 9 rounds were fine (I only run 9 rounds in the mag due to it not being able to seat on a closed bolt with all 10). Once empty, the bolt locked open. I inserted the next LAR15 mag and pressed the bolt release. Got a click when I pulled the trigger. Waited 30 seconds and then used the charging handle to eject the round, which was obviously not fired. No primer strike. Clearly it didn't go into battery.

Yanked back the charging handle and let it rip. It chambered a round and I was good for the next 8 rounds. Then bolt locked back, inserted another 9 round mag, it seated, I used the bolt release button. Pulled trigger. Another click.

So I stopped using the bolt release and just ripped back and released the charging handle. It went into battery every time.

Anyone have any experience with the bolt release not putting it into battery. Any idea what could be the cause and / or solution here? Ammo used was regular PMC Bronze .223 FMJ though I don't think it's the ammo.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

never had that but maybe the best suggestion is you re getting a lemon and should be sent to the yukon for cure ... maybe the scare of big cities is doing that to x95 ...

My X95 doesn't seem to like 3rd gen PMags but only with certain ammo types. I don't at all understand it. I got some metal mags and the rifle cycles 100% with the very same ammo that chokes up when used with a PMag. Go figure?

My theory is that the PMag causes some extra drag somewhere. It seems to be on the ejection stroke because the failures I see are all failures to eject.

If the X95 is anything like an AR, the bolt hold open is slightly ahead of the maximum bolt stroke. ie the bolt going forward from hold open is travelling a shorter distance than the bolt going forward normally.

With the mag full, the top round has max pressure / drag on the feedlips.

Haha...well, I have had the X95 for two years now and no issues up to now. I may take it apart and clean it and put it back together and try some different ammo (and maybe try some PMAGs), but I have used the Bronze before many times as well as the LAR15 mags.

i do not like pmags in ar but that is just me. i prefer the metal ones.

I would try cleaning it.

Will do. I will concede that I have not cleaned it in a while...almost pride myself on the ruggedness of the platform (read reports of intervals of 5000-10000 rounds between cleanings), but definitely since there has been a change in the firearm's behaviour, I shouldn't rule anything out. Will take it apart tomorrow to clean thoroughly.

did you used that ammo in the combo rifle/mag in the past with no issues?

i not discarding the cleaning especially after rough time but still anlayze in need for every possible issue.

Just an FYI for anyone installing the Manticore Arms OD green hand guard on an OD green X95. If you are super OCD the colors do not match quite right. Apart from that, great product and fixes my issues with the gun :)

I accidentally posted in the T97 thread looking for help finding a pistol grip for my X95.
Can’t find one in Canada and as far as the US goes it’s hard to find a company to ship here.
Due to a past injury to my right hand the A2 style bump is a bit of a bother.
If anyone has an idea where to get an aftermarket grip I would appreciate any help-info.
Cheers
Jeff
