Future Weapons would be 1000x better if the writers didn't exaggerate EVERYTHING and have Mac introduce every new Hk as the best thing ever.

Also, I cringe a bit every time he says "stopping power".
 
I find it hard to believe the OP is talking about the same gun...I find them incredibly fast, handy rifles. I was really amazed with the one I played with.

Bullpups really do nothing for me...but the Tavor is a very nice rifle. I wish I could afford one for sure.

It is the only bullpup I have ever considered (and having lived in countries where bullpups were legal I have had a fair amount of access).

No. Unless you think you are. Read what I said about the type of guy I am talking about. There are very few of them and you are likely not one. But there are enough of them out there. You know who you are.

All I am saying is that opinions should have some basis and be supported by something reasonable. Even if it is something as banal as "I like the look of it" as least state that. But someone stating that a rifle like your Tavor is not worth the 3 large you paid for it means nothing if it is not supported by reasonable thought.

Agreed. But you have to give the guy credit. He's doing it and we are not. And he is making good coin for doing so.

keep in mind he doesnt write the show. he gets told what to do and say and how to say it.

as per the tavor, if it was even available here it would be upwards of $6k so ive cast it out of my mind :(
 
I think with anything that is military in origin, it will have some mass to it, even if it is built to be as lightweight as possible.

Of course, I'm more familiar with the old school battle rifles and assault rifles (metal and WOOOOOD!!!), and those aren't light.
 
I would definitely want to test fire one before I bought it. The fact that it is non-restricted makes it hugely more attractive than if it were restricted. The price tag and limited availability are the only two things that are making me wait out on this one... if anyone in Ottawa has one, how about meeting up at the range? :D

Honestly I was very impressed with this rifle, the best black gun available in Canada IMHO. I like it better then the PE90, XCR, SL8 and certainly better then an AR with longer barrel.

Looking at a gun show is nothing close to actually shooting a gun.

Shooting one and holding one at the gun show are two different things. The Tavor is a very nice rifle to shoot. Especially off hand.

I also think it's the best of the new black rifles. Although I won't be selling my PE-90 or 16" AR-15 anytime soon :D. Price wise it's reasonable compared to the prices of other black guns and it's a bargain compared to the FN SCAR prices. If the new Eotech style reticle works on the optics then the price is about the same as an SL8 if you didn't include the optics.
 
I was also at the HACS Show during the weekend and held the Tavor for the first time and my impression was that it is light and comfortable to hold.

I am very tempted to ordering one.
 
Personally, I would prefer that they just come with a Picatinny rail, as I would rather mount a more versatile low power variable scope if I had a Tavor.

I totally agree with you. Tavor is a really nice rifle to shoot and if the Meprolite was not included saving a few hundred off the price I would own one. I hate being forced with something I do not want in a purchase. When I was seriously considering one and on the phone with Canam, his suggestion was to just sell the Meprolite. Well who would buy one? Nobody unless a guy is prepared to just give it away. Too bad about the negative option billing associated with this rifle.
 
Sorry that I ticked off so many people, wasn't really my intend. Maybe I just expected soemthing different, the size really got me but of course it would be restricted with a shorter barrel.

It doesn't take much to generate pages of comments. Seems to happen so easily. I sometimes wonder if people do it on purpose to see what will happen. I mean this is a pro gun forum I think. Sure everyone has an opinion but it can get pretty nasty when we disagree. I just see the same theme through many different posts. Too bad. Anyway I bought a Tavor because;

It's non-restricted
223 caliber
Looks very different
~30" overall length
takes 10 round AR mags

I like it and will not sell it. If others don't like it ...ok we are all different.
 
I think the Tavor is one of the best rifles, here is why,

easy to point, small cal makes it easy to shoot. And at the ranges we use it, its very accurate. Its nice and compact given our laws. You can take it camping. Ammo is Nato standard and easy to acquire. It has a lot going for it. For the price of $3k i think its a bargain. That doesn't meen i own one. Though I may, in time.

All that said... why rip on Mac? ex seal, been in the ####. Knows what he is doing. Gets told what to do, what to say, how to say it. The show is good. It has to have that 'drama' you don't like. Otherwise the average joe (their target audience) would not watch it. Its a formula. If you want to stay on the air, you need viewers. Lots of them. So what if its not everything to everyone? Its good entertainment with a bit of knowledge thrown in for people who are interested but otherwise wouldn't have a clue can learn something.
 
I am always entertained by Future Weapons. I kinda like Mac as a TV personality -come on, it is entertaining, not journalistic.

Being a SEAL doesn't mean he is a "gunnut" - but I am sure he knows a lot more about doing his job in his particular area, than knowing the technical mumble jumble and terminal ballistic science. Not a big deal. I am sure he knows squat about artillery system and AA system - but he is a TV presenter, not a weapon expert across all system in the military.

Soldiers are like cops, the weapon is a tool. How man people actually know the technical details of the cars they are driving??

Well said. Somebody tried a gun out and didn't like it as it didn't suit him. No need to stomp his guts out, just discuss why you like it. We have more than enough enemies and if someone likes guns (Fudd's, Rambos, Pink Pistols, whoever) they are allies in our fight.
 
With a 75 grain Hornady A-Max it is as accurate as my SL8 out to as far as I can see with the EoTech. I shot to 700 yrds and once I found the spot I could hold it for 3-5 rounds within 2MOA. Long range is tough with the 223 but with a scope and good conditions that 1:7 twist can spin them right in there. Now if I was a better shooter I should, with the SL8, be able to beat the score of a Tavor as the barrel is better, I think. How about someone with a scope on a Tavor chiming in?
