Tavor, impressions

Please god, don't tell me that show influences your decisions on buying firearms.
From the show.

So the opinion of an ex Navy Seal holds no weight with you? You're right. I should be listening to all the "Tactical Firearms" reading, Blackhawk chest rig buying, black gun owning, never spent a day in boot camp, mirror posing, Frito-Lay swilling, couch potato wannabes instead of someone who was part of quite possibly one of the most highly trained combat units in the world. OK.

You know, I actually put my brain in gear before I say or write anything.

HAHA. That show thinks that EVERYTHING that it gets its hands on to be the most amazing and revolutionary design since the beginning of time.

Not sure if you have noticed, but they do not show stuff that breaks. The majority of it is leading edge and the small arms usually top drawer. And they really do not come across as everything being amazing and revolutionary. They do a good job of pointing out the advancements made in modern weaponry.

The guy is ex Navy Seals and he has his own popular show about something he loves doing. How many people on this site have gotten even close to that level of success? I have to applaud him.

tavor is $1800 gun at best. i think the t97 is better personally 1/3 the price too.

Based on what? Others pay $ 3,000 so how do you assess it to be $1,800? Give us some real thought. Put down a real argument other than just pulling a number out of thin air.

Why is the T97 better? What makes it better? Have you shot and operated both side by side? What are you basing your assessment on? Or is this just a non substantiated off hand opinion? Does the fact that it is so far not available in Canada affect your decision? A T97 could be $5 but if not available in Canada then it means nothing.

Somebody drank the "Mac the Navy Seal" Kool-aid didn't they? :) Fanboys aside, the Tavor is a pretty decent rifle. It would be nice if it were less expensive, but to compare it to a T97 is ridiculous. I'm probably going to pick one up in the new year, but I won't be selling any of my Swiss Arms collection to do so! :)

No kool-aid here. Just a deep respect for other comrades in arms that spend their days doing more in the first 5 minutes after they wake up than civvies do in the whole day. Could just have easily been GSG-9, SAS, Belgians or any number of other elite units. It just happens to a be a SEAL that does the show. It is easy to make fun of the show from the couch but the guy has the chops and has done well with it.

I see a lot of guys with all the gear and black guns who are just wannabe posers. Incredibly out of shape and but really tough in the mirror. They have opinions based on not much more than the collection of all their biases with little of it based on actual usage or operations in the field and in the worst cases para-military weapons ownership is just a cheap substitute for their own lack of personal power in life.

That being said, I agree with your comments.

I think the TAVOR should be sold about 2300$ so more people could buy them. I shot it once, lighter than my AR and more comfortable. Very nice gun but I like to switch from a shoulder to another when I shoot so the TAVOR is not for me. The Kel-Tec one is probably better.

Glad I didn't tick you off with my nose tweaking there.:D;) I know where you're coming from, and I'll admit, I watch the show...but, Navy Seal aside, I'd wish Mac would stop trying to be so "dramatic" with all his whispering dialogue. A better fact checker would be nice too.:)

Agreed. It can be a little melo-dramatic. Some cool swag though.

so I'm a loser because I bought a tavor but am not in the army?

Don't forget that part of the reason the Tavor costs what it does is because it comes with the Meprolight M21 reflex sight which costs several hundred dollars on its own. A more accurate price comparison with other rifles would have to include a similar sight.

Personally, I would prefer that they just come with a Picatinny rail, as I would rather mount a more versatile low power variable scope if I had a Tavor.

well welcome aboard homie, we're in the same boat!:D

Like seriously, maybe we can't do 300 meter headshots standing up like that Mac dude did but hey at least we own a nice 18.6" barrel non-restricted bullpup rifle. also if its good enough do be in service by some infantry unit in the world, then its good enough for me.
