Tavor in FDE (The Americans Might Win)

What are the improvements with the US version exactly?

A made in America stamp. Lots of American flags on the boxes, and the sweet smell of apple pie.

Like I said I'll be keeping my Israeli made one. I'll look into the US ones if they become available at a decent price. Also about the restricted barrel. If I bought a second one I'd want it re barreled with a SS accuracy barrel anyways. It's a lot cheaper to do these at the US price point than our current ones.

I can't say either of the barrel lengths appeal to me. If you're going to go restricted, you might as well go the CTAR route! Maybe we'll see some cool accessories. A new trigger group would be slick!

While we're dreaming of exciting things . . .

What if the American's made a .308 version?

couple of random thoughts.

1. the flat dark earth looks damn ###y.

2. the price is nice but but who knows how much money will get tacked on to the bill to potentaily bring these across the border. just think of the rfb and any other keltek firearm and how much we canadians get raped on the prices here.

3. at 16.5 inches these tavors will be restricted. huge turn off for me. im not paying that much for a range gun the liberals and ndp have a hard on to seize and ban. also if a canadian non restricted varient was made, i assume the price of the tavor will only go up in price.

4. if north sylva has the only exclusive contract with IWI to carry tavor rifles and parts in canada, im guessing its in sylva's best interest to keep importing the israely version as opposed to the american version as they can probaly make more money of each unit that way.

5. it will be nice to see a american tavor hit the market. the more tavors there are the more kits, parts and items that will be manufactured for the tavor.

Apparently the profit margin on the Israeli ones is very slim. so if the US ones have a bigger profit margin built in per gun, they will drop the Israeli ones.

I was having Internet issues. The rest of the post had to be redone. If the original price was a lot cheaper than ours it would be decent as a project gun for rebarreling to non restricted. A restricted Tavor doesn't appeal to me either. Unless it's that super cool micro tavor X95 with 9mm kit. Even then Id want non restricted as well.

Damn you're right! I hope thats a typo *eyeroll*

Because really, even though the FS2000 is "almost there" not many people bother with them because of that extra barrel and re-un-registering hassle.

I have a feeling it's not a typo. In the US they just need to be over 16" to avoid classification (and the accompany $200 tax stamp and other hassles) as an SBR. I wonder if the US 18" will be more accurate than our 18.5"...

Dont know why these cant be bought for us canadians already in the left handed config. Dont like the idea of having to shell out more money just for that. It shouldnt have to be an option just make it come in already to go. Thats why i havent purchased one yet.

100% agree! I'm a lefty and I suport this message.

im a south paw as well. converting the tavor isnt hard to do. only took a little over a hour and i have zero mechanical skill whatsoever. its just paying for the left handed bolt is the crappy part. however imo its better to buy it in right handed version and convert to left handed version for 2 reasons.

1. converting the tavor from right handed use to left handed use will teach you about your tavor as it gets partialy disassembled for the conversion.

2. if you ever sell your tavor in the future and you dont have a right handed bolt to convert it back to right handed use, you will severely limit who will want to purchase your used tavor. i imagine the market for used tavors isnt all that large yet. and i imagine the market for a used left handed only tavor is even smaller.
