Tavor is a BEAST!

Given 1600 rounds in a day down a hot barrel, Norinco, likely could have shot out your barrel's throat. Would be interesting to see how much your groups are affected, if you've done a before test. Likely half or more of the accurate barrel life consumed that day given the pace, that said, barrels are consumables and again, bravo. Too many range queen rifles out there and yours isn't one of them.

This wasn't chinese ammunition, it looked eastern European, it comes 40 rounds wrapped in brown paper. I've shot this stuff for a while now and haven't had any problems with corrosion. Not to mention the store owner told me is was non-corrosive when I bought it. Who even makes corrosive 556 so I can look out for it down the road? As far as I knew there was no such thing.

Sorry, assumed it was corrosive. Glad you are having fun with a fun rifle,
 
It's going to be harder on your barrel, yes, and if you shoot enough to shoot out a barrel (accurate life of 5,000 cheap rounds isn't an unfair statement, quality ammo 10,000+ for .223) it will be more expensive in the long run than shooting quality ammo. If you only shoot a hundred rounds a month, won't matter, most black rifles never get near shot out. Guys like TK are a lot more active than most.
 
Soft steel is scary. Build up dents, and then subsequently hit it with a projectile, it can turn around and head back uprange. It may not happen very often, but how many lives do you have?

Ricochets that change direction by 180 degrees have very little velocity/power left in them. I have been hit by a .45 slug in the stomach and it didn't even leave a bruise.

True, and this is also a very good reason why I wear body armor when shooting steel. I had a round with a little bit energy left come back from a gentlemans target and punch me square in the chest. I have a good mark from it now. I will most definately take a look at those AR500 plates as I have a Kriss Vector incoming and I want to be shooting a lot of steel at CQB ranges with it.

If you shoot occasionally, no, it won't do you any harm. You'll see guys like me and Steve Janes though shoot a copious amount through our rifles and change the barrels when we need to though. One of the main reasons I shoot an ACR is because of the quick barrel change.
