Tavor TAR-21 Aftermarket Optics and Accessories?

Anyone have an Elcan SpecterDR 1-4x mounted? I'd love to see pics... I'm thinking that's what I may mount? I really could use someone's review of the setup.

I do, and it is the best setup I can imagine...

It is compact, the weight is right where you want it, it has great eye relief, very bright sight picture, red dot adjustable to as bright as you could ever want it, excellent field of view on either 1 or 4X, and looks good. I have no desire for BUIS, but the SpecterDR comes with built in and zeroed BUIS for the many people who can't live without them. This setup bounces around in my truck almost daily and holds its zero despite taking the sight on and off many times to swap it for an optic with higher magnification for my perpetual load development.

The one negative comment I will make is that the 1X and 4X zeros do not fall exactly on top of each other; I zero it on 4X, and find that the zero shifts about 2" off when switched to 1X (at 114 yards). Of course I don't like this, but it is not a huge deal since I only use 1X at very close range where the difference would be only a fraction of an inch. Actually it would be nice to make the square "dot" a little smaller than 1.5 MOA for slightly more precision... but in any case I still think it is the best option out there.

Pics later if I ever get a minute off work...

It would be nice to see some pics of different setups as there is a new shipment and CGNers will be looking for ideas. Here is my last Tavor which I stupidly sold in a fit of Noveske madness. My next one is enroute:

You get a tracking number yet?

You get a tracking number yet?

Nope. I called CANAMMO today and the guy on the other end of the phone said that they are enroute. I asked him if they had cleared customs and he ignored my question and restated that they were enroute. He was kind of blunt and a bit of an A--hole. Hopefully this week. Like everyone else I'm waiting in line.

Magazines get free scopes, they don't publish bad reviews.

Its not the free stuff that keeps them from publishing bad reviews, its that manufacturers are also advertisers. When a review is going badly, usually the publisher tells the manufacturer, and kills the review. Its more likely a bad product if it HASN'T been reviewed at all, than if there is a review. Most people won't outright lie in a product review. They will, however, refrain from finishing the review or publishing it. I know, I used to handle reviews and advertising for a company I used to work for in the hobby industry.

Factory rail with removable Mepro 21 (sold long ago) I also have an ATRS Spartan brake installed.

If I want a light, I just slide on a compact little M3X; the toggle switch sits right by the fingers of my supporting hand.

THAT! is very ###y...

I believe that is exactally what i'll do to mine. Maybe i'll pull the glock light/laser off and try it out as well.

Thanks so much for the pics and review!

The problem with an bullpup is you have a long linkage from the trigger to the hammer, etc. There really is no easy way to make a decent trigger on a bullpup.

TA31F in a GG&G mount on the factory rail. The height and eye relief are great; I was worried I'd have to buy a riser or extender, but it seems exactly the same as an AR.

That looks great. I'll be putting a TA31F on mine if it ever gets here. I was worried about eye relief and height too, so I'm glad it worked out for you.

I hear you... but no one is asking for a match trigger. Something better than what it is now, I'll settle for a bad AR-15 trigger.
