Tavor vs AR, Apples to Apples Comparison Part 1 (50 yards)

Price to price, barrel length to barrel length, and my buddy has one now and hes had 2 failures to eject in 300 rounds running ae 55gr 223. 100 yards he is lucky to get 5 inch groups and the trigger is mushy and gritty. Dust cover is meant for when you are in a dirty environment on the ground to protect bcg and forward assist can be very helpfull when inserting a dirty magazine.

AE 55gr 223 is all I have used. 3k rounds latter and no problems other than the aforementioned of me getting my mug in the way before a lefty bolt could be found. Only cleaned it probably 3 times so far aside from the initial cleaning. Your friend needs to have that thing looked at as it should be more reliable than any other modern design I have seen. Also I would not base my conclusion off of a single firearm. I have shot 2 AR's. One choked on every round of the AE 55gr .223 it ate and the other ran great. If my mentality was the same as yours, AR's are the biggest piles I have ever touched. f:P:

Both AR's were high quality builds.

Good thread Camero.

We can only test/compare with what we have, and share the results. When you extend yourself on CGN, well....no good deed goes unpunished! ;)

I'll be reading, thanks!

Like I said, this will be a proper comparison of 2 rifles designed for the same purpose. Comparing things based solely on price or barrel length is pointless.
For the next test I'll take an Uzi, put a 20" barrel on it, and compare it to a Rem 700 with a 20" barrel. Of course, I'll have to spend as much on the 700 as the Uzi to make it fair, then see which is more accurate and will do better groups...............
Then it'll be a high end over/under shotgun vs a single shot 50 cal with the same barrel length and price of course. This could be fun. Lol

1. See above.

2. Then he needs to learn to shoot and try different ammo

3. Have you ever even shot an AR? Call of Duty doesn't count. Dust cover doesn't do #### once the gun has been fired as it just hangs down till closed, Tavor protects anytime the bolt is closed. Oh? You use a lot of dirty magazines do you? Does your mom know?

I'm a little disappointed in my tavor so far with 55 gr bullets. Maybe I'm expecting too much but for the price I was at least "hoping for better. And yes I can shoot I have no problem grouping under an inch at 100 if the rifle is capable, however my tavor is not capable (at least with 55) are you guys getting better results with higher weights?

I just like the availability of 55gr vs others

It's not a MOA capable rifle, unless you hand load, it's made as super reliable all purpose kinda gun.. So I'm happy with the 2-3" groups at 100m..

Even with factory match or hand loads, the Tavor is just not capable of decent accuracy. I would question anyone who claims better than 3moa consistantly at anything greater than 50m.

Dust cover gets closed when doing a run and gun thru mud , forward assist is when the mags get wet or sandy and a round has a hard time chambering. I run my ar with everything and shoots everything, and its half the price of a tavor , well with mods its more but the bcg is stock. Call of duty lol i used to love that game 10 years ago lol id10t.

I'm actually surprised at how much mine likes 55's. Try some 62, but they should like 69-75.

So you have to close the dust cover before taking cover in the dirt? Sounds like it would be better to have a rifle that you didn't need to.......
Funny, IWI tested this thing to no end in more sand than you've ever seen, and didn't see the need for a forward assist, guess that's a better design to.....
So you've had the same reliability with your AR as 99.9% of people have had with their Tavor.......
And there you go with price again, so you think every single pistol needs to be the same price as a 1911 as well......

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE both, but neither one is perfect for everyone.

lots of fail in this post...
cool story bro... next!

And like I said, can anyone take this guy seriously? If he has nothing to contribute but hate, and you can't have a rational conversation with him, he is either very ignorant, or good at trolling.

I think it is the latter as he trolled the last Tavor thread heavily as well untill mods came in and tanned his hide.
