As far as I know, all Tavor barrels are made in Israel, including the IWI US SAR ones. If we want cheaper Tavors, all we need to do is to get the US SAR-21 approved by the RCMP (I believe it has different trigger pack than Israeli Tavors), and then get IWI US to import 18.7 Canadian Tavor barrels from Israel along with their regular shipments and install them on the SAR rifle. Boom, we get US-priced Tavors at around/sub $2000. That is huge (that's almost $1k of savings)! More savings = more ammo, better optics and other goodies. Also, this would be great if IWI wants to get more market share in the AR-15 saturated market.
Now, if we all go on the IWI US website and send them an email about this, then perhaps they would consider it after they get enough messages. OR if a big Canadian importer could call and ask IWI US to do this that would probably be easier.
