I recenty bought a used pistol from a licensed dealer Ontario. I live in BC. They charged 12% tax. Are they supposed to charge provincial sales tax on a deal bought in another province?
they over charged you. They should only have charged you 5% Gst since bc does not have hST. Demand your partial refund.

You can't read your own information properly?

"If you are a vendor in one province or territory and you make sales to residents of another province or territory, what sales taxes do you charge them? When you sell and ship or deliver taxable goods and services to out-of-province/territory customers, the sales tax that applies in your customer's province or territory is generally applicable."
"If you operate in the following provinces, you need to collect 5% GST as well as provincial sales tax, with provincial sales tax rates as follows:
British Columbia: 7% provincial sales tax (PST) on retail price only"
OP got charged properly.
sell me the colt and i ll pay the tax.....LOL
I'll put you in the long lineup after I get to babysit the pistol for a while, lol
Despite what others might think you were definitely taxed appropriately.
Cheers.
Sumthin' funny going on here Mike...no mention of "Colt" in your OP. Now I'm wantin' to see a pic...![]()
Have a look here just scroll up or down till you see a 1914 Colt Govt in about 90% condition. Time warp lol...

Your posts are totally unsubstantiated. As Doors, CanAm and I indicated, if they are not registered to remit PST (no tax number), they cannot (legitimately) collect it. How could you possibly know if they are registered.
What do you mean by that 4n2t0? I agree with Doors...
