TC contender: what's the appeal ?

Yeah I want a carbine frame. I was looking at getting a AR stock for my pistol.

Ya those pistol grip stocks are pretty cool on the contenders and encores. I have an encore rifle action with one of them it has a 15 inch .223 prohunter pistol barrel and it’s so tiny and accurate I smoke beavers with it and anybody who has had to deal with pest beavers knows you have a target about 3 inches in size on the head when there swimming. That tiny rifle smokes em at three or four hundred yards pretty easy

Yeah I don't shoot them as pistols that well. Tiny rifles are fun. Haven't shot the 357 rem max, which I really should just get a 357 mag barrel. Any new barrels I get, will be 14's Incase I ever find a carbine frame.

I haven't see many encore pistol barrels.

Ya encore stuff in Canada is hard to come by. I have a very cool 16.25 inch encore carbine barrel in 45-70 government it’s my little cannon. Makes for a very handy little rifle that will easily put down any animal in North America. If anyone is looking for a rifle stock that’s a bit different to check out sharps bros they are big in the ar and ak rifle scene in the states but the owner is big into encore and contender rifles they made a pistol grip with pic rails for mounting stocks. They make them for Gen 1 and 2 contenders as well as a encore frames and they ship direct to canada

As far as I am concerned T/C Contender carbine's are the ultimate cool in light weight long guns

Here are a few of mine

21" 375JDj

22" 45-70

14" 338JDJ #2

19" 6.8SPC

21" 7-30 Waters

14" 375JDJ

14" 45-70

14" 17HMR

21" 308Bellm

I have one in 30-30, 14" stainless

This pistol is incredibly accurate, and like others said, a lot of fun to shoot.

Great pics Camp Cook I use the 14" 357 max and 7TCU on whitetails with 139 and 180gr bullets tried the 45 70 but I couldn't handle the bite. I always thought I was alone with the carbine but you have taken that little gun to new heights. Thanks again for the photos.

Crazy part about the 14" (actually 12.5") 45-70 barrel compared to my 22" 45-70 barrel when I am shooting my 325gr FTX H322 loads I only gain 100fps in the longer 22" barrel.

I've sold the 14" 45-70 barrel plan on selling the 22" 45-70 T/C Custom Shop barrel because I now have a compromise length 16" Bullberry 45-70 barrel haven't chronoed this barrel yet but figure it will give me velocities exactly 1/2 way between the 14" and 22" barrels.

Also going to sell a 21" stainless 375 Win T/C factory barrel and a 21" + muzzle brake was a T/C factory 30-30 barrel was rechambered to 309JDJ before I bought it.

Oh my just saw that SSK Firearms has M-Lok forends and a folding butt stock

I have a couple Contender set ups that I would like the forends for example my 16" or 22" barrels in 45-70 that I take when I am hiking for defense

The problem is with the stock folded it’s under 26”s and can still be fired so creating a restricted.

I like that forearm.

My 30 Herrett is banned from one of my clubs. They don't allow handguns on the range, and it's a rifle cal so I cannot shoot it on the pistol range. They might allow me to use it with a stock.

Deal is this forend uses a hanger bar system that you can also get from SSK looks like with the slot on one end it is possible to mount it on both a carbine or handgun barrel which would be very good I have 14" handgun barrels set up as carbines but have to use tiny handgun forends

They actually make two different lengths of that handguard one a pistol length and one rifle length. They also make their pistol grip stock in a non folding. Nine35 may be able to bring these in as I noticed there bringing in ssk barrels now

Agreed but this bar has a slot and a hole instead of two holes like my other hanger bars.

I'm thinking the slot allows the hanger bar to be used on both the shorter handgun barrel spacing or carbine barrel.

30 Herrett is a pistol cartridge. That is what it was designed for. - dan

No one anywhere will question you if your overall length with the stock is over 26" chambered in a rifle or handgun cartridge doesn't matter.

My biggest problem when shooting my 14" barreled Contender carbines at the range is people asking to shoot them I never refuse this request...
