TC contender: what's the appeal ?

30 Herrett is a pistol cartridge. That is what it was designed for. - dan

They would see 30/30 on my cases and that all they would need to ban me. But the velocity is pretty high than what the pistol range is templated for. Guess when a house gets shot, you gotta tighten the noose to stay open.

I barely use that club anyways. Got one closer.

They've never heard of wildcats? What kind of gun club is that? - dan

What's the appeal of these?

Handgun hunting is still permissable in many states and countries, including most of the states in the the United States, and (IHMSA) target practice and competition is another reason. Some people collect them, and - no doubt - some people use them in the course of their lawful occupation.

Any value to the barrels themselves? It would be nice to get more money to the widow since parts are still ok to sell. Any foreseeable issue selling the barrel that's on the registration certificate (pistol registered as X calibre) and being stuck with just a receiver and stock?

I suggest that you consult the firearm's registration certificate. If the registration certificate documents only one particular chambering, and if you sell that particular barrel, the registrar must be informed (of the 'caliber' change). Likewise, if every last barrel is sold it could be argued that the registrar must be informed of the change. If you keep (at least) one barrel, and that chambering is listed on the registration certificate, you'd be free to sell or otherwise dispose of the others (without any issues).
