TDSA Canada 2016 schedule UPDATE

Mark18, you need to move one man. You said stop "beating on these guys", and yet you continue beating on these guys.

You already sound like someone who has a beef against these guys, or one of the business competitors who is attacking another business competitor.

We heard you so no need to repeat it over and over again like a car salesman.

I have never taken their course but I will try.

We filled out an evaluation form very politely. I do not believe these folks were trying to scam anyone they just loved to hear themselves talk. When I read the course outline, I had concerns. I am an NRA instructor, and have been for 7 years. I do not teach up here and do not compete with Tdsa. I am employed full time in a whole other industry. My friend took 2 other Tdsa courses and had the same thoughts.

Let's not beat up on these guys. It's great that there are folks out there teaching the safe use of toys so that they don't just sit in our safes. But, focus is important. In a level 3 Tac carbine course with such an ambitious agenda, be specific about the outline and maybe "axe the ax throwing"!

Well if you are from another country you know where TSDA originated from eh? There is zilch wrong with the format and individual instructors, I will say it is a long day for these old bones tho. Looking forward to another season.

It's a CGN pile on! No worries. I know the guys down at Silverdale are loyal followers with lots of good experiences - no worries. I was sharing other experiences and curious about the description for a particular course that looked confusing. Not wishing anyone any ill will.

You should be communicating through PM's and E-mails to avoid airing dirty laundry on the forum.

Just a Thought.

Wow....what happened here? How did an introduction and announcement of this years schedule turn in to such a train wreck??

For any doubters I'll add my perspective in to the mix.....it's much the same as others have stated, but for those new to TDSA and considering taking a course, you will not be disappointed! I have known these guys for years and their approach is 100% in the best interest of the students no matter what ability you start the day with. Whether you're a brand new shooter, a competitive shooter, a weekend warrior, or you put yourself in danger to protect us all, you will see a great deal of self improvement in a group environment.
Some get hung up on what the instructors "used to do" and how that adds to their "profile".... This obviously can give you some confidence when doing your internet research, however understanding how well an instructor can "teach" is harder to validate by credentials alone....if said instructor was a career Special Forces Opetator or champion competitive shooter, does that make them a good instructor?....maybe....maybe not.
Scott and his crew are students of the art and never rest on what worked best yesterday....they constantly break things down looking for even the smallest detail which is passed on to the students. Unlike a lot of other training models that may be tested and true, they often are outdated and can be improved upon.......you will not get an old "canned" course with TDSA, rather rock solid fundamentals that will rocket you up the learning curve by a group of guys always putting everything to the test to find what's best.

Aaron is a top shelf instructor and teaches with a lot of passion....hard to find these guys.

Your first course is only the start and will have you hungry for more.

My second question was why tomahawks are in a rifle course? My NRA instructor comments was in answer to another guy's question. I am not American and I don't teach in canada. Someone wants 3 days of my time and 700 bucks? Just give me a course outline and instructor bio. No one from Tdsa has answered on that. I know guys out there love them. Thanks

I'm pretty sure it was mentioned the new website including all info you requested will be launched shortly, as for the tomahawk, it has also been stated TR3 is not just a carbine course, the description "clearly" states it encompasses 3 battle ranges, at close range hand-to-hand I am assuming a hawk could be an effective tool, don't quote me but Im pretty sure some of the spec-ops guys have Hawks on their kits, I guess we will have to see at TR3, I know I'm excited :)
for someone who doesn't seem interested in attending another class, why are you so hell bent on getting information about an academy and courses that you made clear you don't approve of nor wish to attend, I still hope you come out, it truly sounds like you just had an off class, judging by all your comments it does sound like your contemplating it :)

In all honesty, hope to see you out Mark!!

I spoke to Mark. All is well.

Let's keep the thread on track please everyone.

Thanks

Aaron

All is well....on to other things. Loving the JP enterprises 9mm AR. Also bought an Angstadt 9mm. Good for training. See y'all!

I had a GREAT time at the TR1 session at ÈESA last year but I'm not seeing any sessions being offered at EESA in this year's schedule Will you only be offering trained at Silverdale this year?

That is correct. All of our upcoming courses will be held at Silverdale.

Hey Aaron,

I saw Scott out at Silverdale, he was running the hell out of a custom shotgun and pistol package, when I asked him about it he mentioned they were prototypes....This doesn't have to do with the upcoming announcement does it??? :)

Best

Well, aren't you clever.... That is not the announcement I was going to make, but there will be another regarding the mysterious " prototypes" you speak of In the near future..... Keep your eyes and ears open this weekend folks.

I would hate for you to miss out......hehe

Cheers,

Aaron

My precision rifle course was awful but it was 2 yrs ago. It was a bunch of guys chit chatting about their equipment and virtually no instruction or shooting.

Sorry - I call bull#### on this one. A) We didn't offer a PR course in 2014 and B) every PR course I have either taken with TDSA, assisted in teaching, or taught myself has been incredibly thorough and full of information. When Ken ran the PR courses, he did a great job of designing and teaching the course and since I took over the course last year, I'd like to think I've done the same.

If you had a problem, you should have spoken up two years ago and we would have given you a refund.

Now Gentlemen: I took this course with a friend of mine as well. If someone needs to contact me privately I am pleased to provide specifics of attendance and the attendance of my friend (whose name I will keep private on here). Don't strike that low. Get on with life or send me a private message. Someone did and I responded. We should all be able to take constructive criticism that is not aimed personally. To reiterate, I had trouble with the description of this advanced rifle course, did not understand the integration of a tomahawk in a rifle course, and thought the precision rifle was light on shooting. I also do not understand the round count advertised for the last day of the rifle course. Not looking to rehash, but I also like my good name. Thanks
