Team Hipwell - Join the Fight

I don’t understand attacking business that once supported csaaa. Go after csaaa and leave the dealers out of it. You don’t like them don’t donate to them. Pretty simple

Really? Why are you all harping on them?
Getting a fair buy out for those buisness who need it to survive is a great thing. Even more so having CSAAA helping with it as having a gun org help set the prices will set a precident for if /when they come after our privately owned guns.

I see lots of people donating to gun orgs to help fight, but who has donated to their local store or baught guns and equipment they didn't really need to help support those buisness and help mitigate their losses over the bans?

Please do NOT confuse Wolverine Supplies and Mr Matt Hipwell with the tireless work and unrelenting fight John Hipwell has and continues to take against the OIC un Ban of May 1, 2020.

John is retired from Wolverine Supplies and his son Matt bought him out years ago.

Please do NOT confuse the actions of CSAAA with the tireless work and fight John Hipwell and I are continuing against the OIC of May 1,2020.

John and I are shocked by the news announced by Minister Mendicino.

While the Liberal Government was negotiating with CSAAA in total secrecy. John and I were standing in the Federal Court Room before Justice Kane, in the Supreme Court of Canada Building, for Eight Days representing your Firearms Rights. Demanding the Federal Court to toss this regulation out and let us use our guns for Hunting and Sport and to relieve you from the threat of criminal charges and jail.

We presented 26 sworn affidavits showing how these very guns were used by tens of thousands of gun owners for hunting and sports shooting. We filed affidavits of shooters in DCRA, IDPA, IPSC and many many regional groups. We filed expert reports on the dangers of the loose tern Variant. None of this evidence was contested by the AGC lawyers. They knew it was all true.

We demonstrated how the government's method of making you and us criminals by owning these firearms that we had legally purchased and safely owned for decades was an infringement of our Charter Rights under section 7, 8 and 11(d).

We met the arguments and position of the gun grabbing Federal government HEAD ON.

We did NOT back up, Not one Inch.

John and I will maintain that opposition and continue to fight against the OIC and the gun confiscation.

None of the money donated to CCFR to support the Wolverine Supplies action was shared with us. NONE ZERO.

We only have Your direct donations to support our effort.

The deficit is presently out of MY wallet. My time I gave to You. To fight for Your Rights. My Time. Time I was Not hunting. Not shooting IPSC, Not shooting IDPA. Not spending with my family ( we are all RPAL licensed, wife and daughters ). Time i was doing my best to stop this unlawful and unfounded Gun Grab.

We received No Money from CSAAA and will not be any part of the CSAAA operation they are doing with the Federal Government'

Personally how do you think i feel?

I was there busting my butt, Fighting for your guns rights. Like i was raised to do, like I have done before all levels of Courts across Canada and before the Senate of Canada and for other gun rights organizations. Yet behind my back there was an organization, making a secrete deal with the exact government I was opposing on the exact point I was asking the court to toss out as being unlawful.

I can only say that i am "not happy" about this turn of events.

I haven't read all this. You criticise Mandocino and the liberals and then belioeve them when they speak. They are trying to turn you against the good guys........think about it.

The CSAAA is composed of the business members. Those guys willingly entered as members of that org. I do not believe one iota that collaborative contract with the Libs was not discussed with those members. Obtaining a contract from the Gov take many months. This was not an unplanned event.
They are not thousand but a dozen of dealer.
When an organisation you belong too do not represent the members - they should get out of it.

All those CSAAA business members should be boycotted. Period. They decided to collaborate - help the Libs in implementing their gungrab.

Yes..those pariah should be left alone..we collectively have the financial power to do that..not buying anything from them - let us leave them alone as you suggested.

Fact: the CSAAA entered in a ‘collaborative 700K contract ‘with the Libs.

By doing so- they gave credibility and support for the antis and the Libs in their gungrab. It gave them a victory well publicized all over the tv and medias. The truth is the one the public believe. They are told the gun industry is on board with the Libs for the grabback program. It gave the Libs and antis momentum after the C21 G4 fiasco.
Defacto, they agreed the IOC guns do not belong in the hand of gun owners that have used them for decade in complete safety.

The CSAAA - put themselves in that position. They should now pay the price for their collaboration. They were driven by greed and that 700k contract.
Now for the public - the ‘industry’ ( they are not by the way ) is onboard with the Libs. True or not ? Hard to say no when a written contract exist. They should disclose it publicly..we will all see then, the extend of their ‘collaboration’.

They are not the good guys…they betrayed all the clients that purchased IOC gun from them along with all gun owners. None of the members of the CSAAA can be trusted and should not be supported by buying from them.

Spend your money in non CSAAA associated business.

the reason is if you facilitate their actions your are facilitating the confiscation and buy back writ large, vice if we wash our hands of them and firmly say no their agenda cannot be aided or accelerate - so essentially by supporting a reasonable seeming approach to recouping some losses one is unreasonably aiding the en agenda overall. cut and dry it is aiding and supporting firearm confiscation. if nobody helps the LPC there is a reasonable possibility they culminate in their directionless efforts..

All the guns owner gave millions of dollar by buying IOC guns to those guys. Remember those 500k handguns they sold last year ? What about all accessories and ammo we purchased ?

Go see who are the CSAAA business members. Not the small shop..big business that are not in jeopardy.
Everybody contacted by the Fed - gun-shops - gunsmiths and many unrelated business wanted to have anything to do with the Libs gungrab.

Buy those screwball did and signed a 700k contract for doing so. They only deserve to be driven out of business.

As any business this is the result of reckless behavior to stockpile inventory with a pending ban so they could rake in the profits.

Lets looks the REAL reasons some retailers are having trouble.

First there is the natural consequence of their handgun business being pooched by handgun ban last fall that the very Liberal Government that they just made a deal with.

Second is the tanking economy.

People have trouble buying food.

Real inflation is running over 8% and more.

Wages are not keeping up nor will they keep up.

There was just a two year blight on everything due to the Covid fiasco.

Third the Trudeau's green taxes continue to pile on the cost of every single thing we buy and do because of constantly rising cost of fuel that Trudeau has no
plans to stop.

The last two years of the economy followed by the handgun ban and the last two years of crushing inflation and no end in sight due to the Green taxes on fuel

are actual economic reasons for less business in the gun stores.

If the economy and the handgun business was there then the stores could recover any frozen assets in inventory through regular sales.

But they say they can't do that. That means they are not generating profits.

At this point stores and business that are insufficiently capitalized and not profitable are going to fail either way.

Nothing to do with the inventory.

Its not the inventory that is causing this and letting them unload it will not save a failing business.

It is their unprofitability due to the changes and economy.

Most important is that being able to sell the inventory by dealing with the devil WILL NOT SAVE THESE STORES.

The Inventory WILL NOT BAIL THESE STORES OUT or prevent what is now a failing business model for small retailers from failing.

Good luck with your court case with the CSAAA dagger in your back. I hope this poor decision (made in the dark) to partner with the Lieberals doesn't affect the Judges outcome

The Liberals, Poly and those other anti-gun groups and individuals will capitalize on this. Marco already started yesterday by making an announcement before CSAAA could even get out of bed and make coffee.

It (technically) shouldn't since it's not in evidence.
However, since we've now established that the gun industry acknowledges confiscation can be fair and reasonable, it will influence how the outcome of the trial is reported.

Actually historically speaking gun sales increase during recessions due to uncertainty.

“Nothing to do with inventory”? Really? You’ve obviously never had any real world experience running a business that has dead capital sitting in the back room. Capital that could be used for many other things including growing the business.

You are pinning way to much credit on the economy, it is not the economy. Gun sales are still elevated compared to 5 years ago even. They are off the covid highs, but still high.

It s basically a business buy out.Just shut down the availability of firearms by closing out as many gun stores they can .Like the handgun ban where you can t buy anymore handguns the liberals are buying up all the stock of the new guns that fit their profile of dangerous weapons so that if they lose the next election and the conservatives repeal their gun law most of the remaining gun shop owners will be reluctant to restock these types of guns for fear of losing money if the conservatives lose power down the road. Also their plan to go after manufacturers of guns in case of a mass shooting etc is to discourage manufacturers to sell guns for the Canadian market. They plan to squeeze us law abiding gun owners out of existence while claiming they are going after criminals. The liberals know what they are doing because the crime rate won t go down because of these new laws which then justifies more laws until guns are gone and when guns are gone and criminals start using knives like in the UK they will start going after knives.Like everything else the Liberals do it’s all a house of lies. The NDP should be ashamed of themselves for keeping such a corrupt, dangerous to democracy party in power for a meagher Dental plan that wouldn’t t even cover getting your teeth cleaned twice a year

This is posted on the CSAAA website : The Canadian Sporting Arms and Ammunition Association (CSAAA) is representing the interests of all licensed businesses with the Federal Buyback program for the May 2020 OIC-prohibited firearms. Our goal is to help negotiate for fair compensation and a simple process for our businesses struggling through this challenging regulatory environment.

The CSAAA will not be participating in any way with individually owned firearms.

The CSAAA remains skeptical as to the viability of this industry buyback program; due to positive changes in provincial legislation, the absence of Federal budgetary allocation, and lacking a concrete process of implementation.

The CSAAA will only be collecting data on inventory levels and values of that inventory from dealers/distributors that wish to provide this information. If a dealer/distributor is not sure how to determine the value of their inventory, we will assist with that as well. We are not collecting firearms from dealers, deactivating them or assisting in any other way.

We are not aware of where the number of 11,000 firearms came from as no data has been collected or provided to anyone at this time.
. The only good I can see from this is CSAAA can place the value on the firearms, I think that would be better then the government. The actual value of newly prohibited firearms I imagine is quite high and could show the high price of taxpayers dollars needed to just buyback firearms from a number of retailers around Canada, though high price tags don’t seem to bother the government or a lot of taxpayers these days. All in all I think it was bad on CSAAA for not discussing this publicly before going into the deal and at least making a statement indicating that they are in no way supporting the OIC, bill C21 or the buyback but valuing guns at a fair value.

They left out the fact that they are participating in the confiscation with business owned firearms. Still a stab in the back.
