Savage Stevens 940E 20G single shot. My dad had just bought it for $10 from the local hardware store in 72 and gave it to me. I was one happy 15 year old back then. Still have it.
Well, I just purchased my first shotgun, and am still waiting on delivery (but to be fair I just paid the guy last night )
Its a Remington 870 Magnum Tactical with Knox stock! I tried my brothers (exact same rifle, but he has a pistol grip forend) and I was hitting our "Skeet" all day with no trouble, something I just couldn't do with my buddy's "Duck" gun...
Mossberg 500, excellent gun to carry all day, but it hurt to shoot full magnum loads out of it. It was also a Monday morning gun with lots of issues, sold it (with warning it needed work) bought a 590, liked that a lot, bought a Dominion Grizzly, but now have a Fabarm and all others will be sold.
Remington 870 Express.. worked fine for me, just didn't like the finish. It never rusted, but the blueing tore up my rags and was a pain to wipe down. So I sold it and got a Mossberg 500A and it's served me well! Plan on a wingmaster in the near future.
First ever gun fired was my pops .303 no.5 jungle carbine, I think I still have a bruise on my cheek 20 yrs later.lol. I did not want to shoot for a while after that.
Ithaca 37 Feather weight 12 ga. Bobbed the bbl and carved a pistol grip to use while walking in the bush.
Still have it. Good little gun for hunting deer in the willows; with the rear stock re-installed of course

Do smoothbore muzzle loading muskets count? If so then my 1st shotgun was an old 16 ga "trade musket" that I bought with my 1st full-time paycheck when I was 18 (in 1960). I was walking past Hallam's in downtown TO and saw a beautiful "Kentucky" rifle in the window so I went in to have a look. The salesman told me the price of the "Kentucky" (an original) was $300. I only had $60. He pulled out the "trade musket" and asked if I'd be interested. Was I ever! Got the musket, a pound of black powder, a box of Eley caps, a pound of shot and a canvas gun case for my $60. Carried it home on the bus. Still have the musket. Can't count the amount of small game it has taken over the years.
a Savage 24F. .223 over 12 gauge. i hated the thing with a passion: heavy as a pig, no barrel regulation, and the world's most unreliable/weak extraction. i traded it for some cash and a Mossberg 500 - a much better designed gun. now i own mostly 870s.
The first shotgun I ever purchased was an Ithaca model 37. The first Shotgun I ever owned was a single shot Coey .410 given to me by my Grandfather.
I think everyone should learn to shoot with a single shot. Rifle or Shotgun.
I actually preferred the Coey more than I did the Ithaca.
Maybe that is why I prefer SXS's & O/U's to Pump guns.
Blame it on Coey. Or my Grandfather.
Mossberg 500 camo finish with 3 barrels (cantilever slug, 24 inch turkey, and 28 inch, with interchangable chokes.) Shoots clay well, but I can't seem to hit small game with it, so it's fallen into dis-use for the most part. Bought it used and in excellent condition.
870 marine magnum "for my wife", I have around 700 assorted rounds through it and love it. Little rust but it was put away wet, my bad, fixed it fast and have no issues with it. The only thing I would do is buy anther rifled barrel for hunting.
I grew up shooting a Mossberg 185D in 20ga. But my first shotgun was a Remington 1100 in 12ga, I think, that was a long time ago. It's quite possible it was a Winchester Model 59. The 1100 is long gone but I still have the 59.
