Tell us what was the first ever shotgun you ever bought

They`re great guns, It`s the one I bring with me on backcountry trips the most.
I bought some .410 Federal 5 pellet 000 buckshot for it in case something wants to mess with me but otherwise it just pops grouse with birdshot and subsonics.

I`ve been tempted to sell it considering the prices they`re demanding these days but its one of my favorites and kind of irreplaceable.

1st gun

Just about 40yrs ago now....

1st was a savage 22lr bolt my Grandpa bought for me at the Home Hardware.
I still have it! My kids learned to shoot with it.

Not long after that was a CIL 12g single shot break open. I just recently scrapped it.
That was a significant arms escalation at the fort when I showed up with that badboy!! lol Most were wielding BB guns, the odd 22lr. I was 11 yrs old. Kicked like an artillery piece at the time to us!! lol

Cooey Single Shot 12g circa 1956 or so. (OUCH! @##$!!)

ya got that right......

When I first got that single shot 12g I was about 80lb soaking wet....
My Mom used to grill me on why I was gettin' into fights at school all the time....
I didn't get it at first but then she pointed out my black/blue/purple right shoulder and right cheek marks......LOL

Exactly, except you forgot to mention the fat lip. Oh yeah -- and when she bucked, sometimes if you weren't careful the forestock would separate slightly from the barrel and then of course spring back into place HARD and pinch the skin of your fingers!!!Laugh2

Dad bought me a Mossberg pump .410 when I was nine or ten.
I bought a Franchi 12 gauge semi when I was maybe twelve.
I wanted the Browning A-5 Light but dad encouraged/forced me on
the Franchi. Gawd how I loved to hate that gun.
Reliable Gun had them both and I was $20 shy of the Browning price tag.
I worked for my uncle on weekends and I promised dad I would pay him back.
Nope, Franchi came home.
We were out hunting Chukars on a cold, cold season along the Copper Creek
tracks and my Franchi kept jamming up.
I guess the look I gave the old man was enough for him to take.
In the early eighties, pop bought me a spanking new A-5 Light in three inch mag.
Still in the box. I have used it and it is slicker than sheeeeat.
Thanks Pop, as I looky up. :)
Guilt, sometime ya jest gotta luv it.......................

Age 15, H&R 12 Gauge Topper $15.00

Shot Grouse and Ducks with it until I could afford a Model 12 Winchester 12 gauge. Gave both to my two sons this year. Left with an Ithaca Double, Jeffery Double, Mossberg 500A Mariner and using my son's M4. All in 12 gauge.

Take Care

Bob

Oh oh oh ho yea....bag the right beaver makes most guys pretty happy....wait, what? Shotgun?

Uhm yea, mine was a 1897 Winchester in riot length, which turns out to be its original configuration (not cut down) and while its got some loose parts on it, it still runs through a whole wide variety of events and sports. Based on the number of 'regret' posts in the last 12 pages, suffice it to say I am never gong to part with this one because it was my first and I find i'm overly sentimental about these kinds of things. One day I hope it will be someone else's first again....as long as it hasn't shook itself apart in the meantime.
