Tempted - $75 SKS + 1,440 rounds

You may also want to look at this then, when it comes to Russian types to collect according to "Weimajack" who has seen his fair share of the Russian SKS...

Then of course you have the Chinese, with the Sino Soviet, the pre-66 version with the blade bayo, the post-66 version with the spike bayo, maybe a version with fibreglass jungle stock, and the commercial SKS-D (spike, bayo, no bayo) and the rest of the commercial versions.

And the Yugo M-59 "B" and "C" series, good luck finding an "A" series. And the M59/66 (iron sights), M59/66a1 (Phosphorous Sights) and the M59/66b1 (Tritium sights).

And also, most likely out of the USA, the Romanian and Albanian versions.

And the really hard to find Vietnamese and German versions.

And might as well throw a 55/56 Russian refurb into a Polish Wz.49 parade stock if you find one of those, just to round out the types. There are others when you get that far haha.

The collection I have decided to start is basic. I have many other milsurps I want as well, so I have to pre-plan what exactly I want... 10 max... I think, lol

Chinese Military Type 56
Tula '55/'56 hardwood non-refurb
Yugo M59
Yugo M59/66 (a1 or b1)

and if I get lucky
Tula dated '52 laminate refurb
Tula dated '53 hardwood non-refurb
Izhevsk dated '53 hardwood non-refurb
Izhevsk dated '54 laminate refurb

I am not going to bother with the early dated Russian SKS, or the regular M59/66... yet.

I would like to find an Albanian or Romanian SKS, but it would be close to impossible to find an unfired example. I could make due with a used one, But I really do not like the US import markings. I rather buy a LE MKII ( don't get me going on LEs)

As for the others, forget it.

Once you add in the $50 shipping for the rifle and another $150 shipping for the ammo it's the same price as walking into your local gun store. I was excited at first but after calling Marstar decided to go into a local store. They had a holiday sale for $150 (regular $199) for the russian ones and decent price for ammo...the wooden crate and tin can packaging of the ammo was cool too.

Just received a quote from Marstar for $517 to ship to Vancouver Island B.C. Gonna check out a few more options before I pull the trigger. Just over $30 for shipping the rifle and just over $70 for the ammo. Main reason for the Chinese version for me was that I want to swap out the stock, but don't really want to do that to a classic Russian.

I bought a Chinese Military SKS from Marstar last year. They are Factory 625, not 26. Mine showed up in very poor condition. The stock was beat to hell with dents and dings that could not be repaired. They charged me $50 for shipping to Alberta too and were so rude and ignorant on the phone that I felt they were ready to f**k me over if I tried to return it. Not cool, and the reason I will not deal with them anymore.

Has anyone else gone for this deal from Marstar? Is it worth it? I am getting into my SKS rifles now as my Yugo Mauser obsession is starting to falter. I figure this is a good way to get started. And can they ship the ammo to you, or must you pick it up?

I purchased this deal, well worth it.

It'll cost you about $450-$500 all in depending on where you live. Not a bad deal but not as spectacular as it sounds. Nice gun at least

I bought one on this deal but for me shipping is not an issue as I lAArdi 40 minutes away by car. Shipping wasn't an issue. It was an excellent deal for me.

I am thinking of buying another one in March if they are still on special. .... Budgeting and all

hey bud I bought that deal. you can get a better deal if you find places that are shipping free and buy the ammo and gun separate. probably save $80-100.

I inquired about it and to Saskatoon it was going to cost me about $450-475

It is good deal for people in close proximity to Marstar. I thought about it, that is why I started this tread. Shipping was the deal breaker.

Now, on to the Wolverine deal. Who wants to group buy three of them?;) Being in Saskatchewan shipping will not hurt so much. $170 each with shipping and taxes.

The Russian SKS is designed for people from Europe who have larger hands
than people from China.

I have both and I adore my Russian, looks better, trigger is superb plus
it's the real deal, no phony baloney and it shoots like a champ.

I was hitting clay targets at 82 yards (laser range finder verified) with
my Russian, 5 for 5.

Believe this if you want but I outshot my friend with a Browning BLR 308,
he is a Hunter and I'm a Shooter who has put many thousands of rounds through
these delightful guns. You need to extend the stock with something in order
to enjoy your weapon unless your a midget.

I ordered this deal. Shipping was a bit pricey but the deal was still a good one. I was very impressed with the Chinese SKS and feel it to be superior in fit, finish and accuracy to my beloved Soviet (Tula) one. Sorry but the big European hands memo didn't get to the Chinese factory that made mine.

how is the trigger, Kavari is a big time Trigger Guy who fine tunes our "friends" claims that
the worst triggers he works on are the Chinese, I'm not being a #####, I had a lot of fun
with my Chinese SKS for 5 years (3000 rounds) prior to buying the Russian.

I imported a wife from Germany (at great fricken expense) who believes that Russian Women are the most
beautiful women in the world, my SKS is in line with this thinking and I'm a Happy
Camper with The Russian. I'm gonna let my friends who I invite shooting to use
the Chinese gun, most of them prefer chinese food to Russian food so they will be clueless idiots,
plus it's my ammo anyway.

Now if you are a "Closet ### Guy" then the Chinese will work much better for you
due to the fact that you will have no backside, no boobs and no hips. Very similar
shape to a young Male. This is very popular with Shy ### Men in Toronto who don't
want to loose there family inheritance.

I wish we still had "Freedom of Speech", the truth is always a breath of fresh air
and it fuels us/feeds us to keep doing what is naturally "Right".

now this guy has the skill set to build a violin but instead he choose to waist his energy converting a Chinese SKS into a German G3, personally I'd give his advice the time of day
