This is a feed test video of a 10-round Mosin-Nagant magazine I'm building (patent pending) and hope to possibly sell one day soon. It replaces the original floorplate/lifter/follower of the Mosin and requires no modification of the rifle whatsoever. This prototype was made from scratch out of raw sheetmetal and uses a WASR-10 AK-47 magazine spring and heavily modified follower. By the way, these are "dummy" rounds I'm using that were made for me by a reloader. They have no powder and spent primers. Live rounds should never be handled like this in an urban setting.
For more pics of the magazine and more info about the Scout rifle, feel free to take a look at my blog at www.datamancer.net/blog/

Not mine, no. Just spreading it around.

No modification to the rifle, apparently. Just a different magazine floorplate.

I rarely even use the 10 round mag on my Enfield to full capacity, I can't see myself doing the same thing with a Mosin. Especially considering how slow the action can be to operate when compared with a Lee Enfield.

Interesting, but I just don't see the point.

10 round Mosin-Nagant

It is an interesting accessory, but, considering the rifle system used, I would think there will be a rather limited market for it.

Are we re-inventing the wheel here? Over 120 years ago, the Lee system was initiated, with the 8 and later 10 round magazine being standard. And the Lee Enfield is a much faster and easier rifle to use.

I also noticed in the video that when the chargers were inserted, the last round had to be lifted to get the 5 rounds in. If the chargers are loaded so that the bullet tips form a pyramid with the first three having the rims over the previous one, then the next two with the rims under the previous one, (down, up, up, down, down) then the chargers should load correctly. (This is from an old Russian manual on the M-N rifle).

They will also load correctly if you load the charger similar to the Lee Enfield charger.....(down, up, down, up, down).

It shows just what can be done if someone wants to do it.

"...a 10-round Mosin-Nagant magazine..." You're making a prohibited device.

Only semi-auto centerfire rifles and handguns have a maximum capacity. Rimfire rifles and manually operated center-fire rifles can legally have as many rounds as you want.

That hardly looked like a MN with the black finish stock and scope, but it did indeed look wicked.

As to the legal 10 rounds, I think your right about the bolt actions. Zfarm had a 20 round magazine for Gew98 and I dont think it was pinned. But I am not 100% sure. I know tube fed and rimfires have no max.

If they do just replace the issue floorplate (non permanent) Id buy one. Would be a neat way to double the rounds in the Mosin without destroying anything.
