Quote “There is nothing wrong with competition John, its part of the free market economy”
Sean
You are right there is nothing wrong in competition; I support it, but look at it from our perspective. We worked with Alex Robinson to get a Canadian model XCR, we went to the time and trouble of getting the XCR classified in Canada. We advertise her and we stand behind what we sell. Yes we have an exclusive agreement but we are not using this in order to gouge people, we need this to safe guard ourselves and our dealer customers from price-cutting. Our retail is very favourable when compared to the US retail if you factor in the exchange rate, the shipping and importation costs anyone can see that we are offering a very fair deal. We offer a dealer discount, yes I know it is hardly worthwhile but at least it allows you, the consumer, to purchase from your local dealer. Now you want other importers, as you think it will give you a cheaper product. If other importers could purchase for the same price as us, yes they could, in theory, sell for 17.5% cheaper than our retail price, it would not make any economic sense because their profit would be so small, much better for them to invest in more profitable lines, but they could offer no support, minimal advertising to save on overheads. How often to you hear people saying, “For warranty refer to the manufacture”. If this is “competition in a free market economy” I want no part of it, as you the consumer will only loose, and the retail gun trade as it exists in Canada today will be doomed. We need a thriving industry with gives mutual support to dealers and importers whilst supporting their retail customers. This in turn requires that the retail customers support us, if not we will simply fade away!
Our limit on numbers is from the US State Dept, not from us or from any Canadian import restrictions, we would have 300 shipped tomorrow if we had our way. We make no profit with 190 back orders, we want sales, the more the better. See my previous post: “we are limited by the US State Dept limiting export licenses to a max of 45 at a time”.
