Quote “There is nothing wrong with competition John, its part of the free market economy”

Sean
You are right there is nothing wrong in competition; I support it, but look at it from our perspective. We worked with Alex Robinson to get a Canadian model XCR, we went to the time and trouble of getting the XCR classified in Canada. We advertise her and we stand behind what we sell. Yes we have an exclusive agreement but we are not using this in order to gouge people, we need this to safe guard ourselves and our dealer customers from price-cutting. Our retail is very favourable when compared to the US retail if you factor in the exchange rate, the shipping and importation costs anyone can see that we are offering a very fair deal. We offer a dealer discount, yes I know it is hardly worthwhile but at least it allows you, the consumer, to purchase from your local dealer. Now you want other importers, as you think it will give you a cheaper product. If other importers could purchase for the same price as us, yes they could, in theory, sell for 17.5% cheaper than our retail price, it would not make any economic sense because their profit would be so small, much better for them to invest in more profitable lines, but they could offer no support, minimal advertising to save on overheads. How often to you hear people saying, “For warranty refer to the manufacture”. If this is “competition in a free market economy” I want no part of it, as you the consumer will only loose, and the retail gun trade as it exists in Canada today will be doomed. We need a thriving industry with gives mutual support to dealers and importers whilst supporting their retail customers. This in turn requires that the retail customers support us, if not we will simply fade away!

Our limit on numbers is from the US State Dept, not from us or from any Canadian import restrictions, we would have 300 shipped tomorrow if we had our way. We make no profit with 190 back orders, we want sales, the more the better. See my previous post: “we are limited by the US State Dept limiting export licenses to a max of 45 at a time”.

Y do people bash XCR's so much on here for?

I find it Ironic that for all the talk about right being right and left being out to lunch, some ppl here think it is their right to have guns at cheap prices.
Quit 'yer #####en and pay what it costs. If you don't like it, take up a cheaper hobby.

Ironic that every gun banner I can think of hates cheap guns...and wants them banned. They call them 'Saturday Night Specials,' but working people call them 'affordable.'

I also understand the psychology of people wanting expensive things. It becomes a way of showing your 'worth' and feeling better about yourself. They think, "At least I am not....that guy. Look what I've got."

:D
:runaway:

How exactly is asking for competition regulating prices? The lack of competition regulates prices. Boo hoo I have an opinion, I'm so sorry for you.

There is not enough of a market to have real competition in everything but the most mass market firearms. Competition is great, but only works when more than one person can sell the same thing. This and economies of scale are what drives prices lower.

How many people can make a go at importing and selling XCR's. How many of the can be sold in Canada? Enough for two, three four importers picking up 50-100 at a time? On top of how many other guns that compete for dollars? We won't get cheaper prices unless we can build a bigger market. This simply isn't going to happen so all the useless whining about cheaper prices is just that. Useless whining.

It's really simple folks. Work with me on this one. If you want a gun, pay what is asked. If you don't like what is asked, don't pay it and do without. If you think YOU can do better, by all means do so.

Otherwise, quit 'yer yapping, get an X-box and call of duty 4 and go worry your parents over a hobby you can afford.

John - SOME of the people in this country sees "gouging" in everything but how much they get paid for whatever they do for a living, then that is fair payment for all their hard work.

I am sure if there was other XCR importer / dealers, and the price was the pretty much the same between the dealers - there would be another claim of "conspiracy" to keep the prices jacked up to gouge the potential customers - because those customers just must have that rifle.

SOME of those customers appear not to understand that things cost money - sometimes poor quality things cost more then they should, sometimes the other way around. Market forces are market forces, profit is not a bad thing, people work hard to develop a small market niche and then are told that they have done something wrong.......
Sometimes I just think it is the nature of musings online and that much of these gripes are just because someone gets to write in private -- but sometimes I just dont know.

This thread needs to be renamed XCR vs anything!
If that was the case I vote for the Club as it works all the time no need for periodic maintenance if it breaks no need to send it back to the manufacture to fix and it is cheaper

Our retail price for the current shipment of XCR rifles is $2,045.00 Canadian, plus shipping and tax.

If you go to Rob Arms web site and price out the XCR as we supply it, you will find that she lists in the US for $1,805.98 now add on the exchange rate of + 25% and the prices is $2,257.50 and we haven’t adding on the cost of applying for import/export licenses, freight customs clearance etc etc. These costs should raise the retail even higher.

Once again this shows how fairly we treat our customers and what a good deal the XCR represents in Canada.

No we aren’t subsidizing the price, just passing on to our customers the fact that when we paid for this shipment the exchange rate was more favorable to us, another reason to support your local Canadian gun store.

This is a poor thread......I only write this because John Hipwell/Wolverine Supplies don’t deserve this S&%t. There in business to make a living. They treat people very well and fairly. If any one does not like the price they pay for US imported firearms consider the barriers our government and the U.S. government create. Next time you consider purchasing anything from the U.S. think about how they screw over their greatest trading partner. Don’t forget how our government lets them get away with it....albeit policies put in during the liberal regime. Point being Wolverine Supplies is an awesome dealer and there service is worth it if you ever have a problem. They stand behind their products with value and integrity. This seems to be a corner stone of John Hipwells business values. These excellent qualities’s have a monetary value that is well worth it.

2nd, i have imported MYSELF firearm and firearms part's (DPMS), it's long, shipping fees are expensive and custom fess too, my time doing my job pay me more than what i save, so i let this buisness now to the one that feed their familly with it. If some BS think they can do better, go ahead, try it, you will change your mind pretty fast....
