Well I'm going for the most successful rifles . This is a new to me rifle off EE with 700 to 1000 rnds so I didn't know what to expect but hoped for the best with my first 300 yard group - usual recipe but mixed brass . Wasn't really expecting this

Try putting the calipers on the outside of your holes, then subtract .308

another try with my AI

10 shots, 300yds , 308, 185Juggernaut

3 shots, 500yds, last shots of the day,(taped holes, earlier use of targets, I'm a cheap rascal at times)

Nice shooting Don, I will put this through the On Target calculator for you when I get home.

Cheers,

Jeff.

Thanks, I posted pic because this old coot just figured out how to do that. It is really hard to keep it together for 10 shots at distance! The 3 shots at 500yds were fired fairly quickly because I was getting ready to call it a day, relaxing seems to help sometimes, no pulled shots.

AI AX in 6XC this time (just a different barrel), same S&B 5-25X56 with H59.

Shot off an Atlas bipod and rear bag at CDTSA Milo range (300M).

Calipres already adjusted for CTC (.239")

My first entry:

Remington 700 SPS Varmint .223" in a McMillan Gamescout stock. Nightforce NXS 8-32, Magpul DBM, Accurate Mag 10 round mag, Devcon bedded by myself. Handloads with Hornady Z-Max 50 grains and Varget. Shot off bags because my bipod and I aren't on good terms these days. This was my first group using an FX-120i to measure the powder. Shaved .200 MOA from my previous 300 yards best group. There's still room for improvement, but we're getting to the limit of what this setup can do.

Nice shhoting! Can we get load details? I nearly broke 2" with one of my attempts.

It's the load detailed in this post:

https://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php/1589039-Need-223-Powder-Recommendations?p=14022891&viewfull=1#post14022891

Federal brass, CCI400 primers, 26.0 grains Varget, 50 grains Hornady Z-Max, 2.260 COAL, 3314 FPS. I use the same load for the 55 gr V-Max. I will be switching to Federal 205M primers when the CCIs run out. One day I might get into Lapua brass but until then, the Federal will do.

I forgot about your post! Glad to see you're getting results from Varget; as you may remember from my thread I tried a few different combinations of components and tests but wasn't getting consistent results. Maybe I should revisit Varget now that I have some match bullets on hand but it really didn't impress me. I've been planning to give this challenge another try as my Benchmark loads are shooting very well. Hopefully sometime soon!

Gave the challenge another shot with a fancy new scope this morning. Had planned to shoot two group but mirage got nasty as things warmed up so had to pass on the second group. This group came in at 1.12" c to c.
I may screw on a 6 Dasher barrel for the second group.
