The $299 Russian Capture K98's at SIR in Winnipeg?

My RC Mauser came in the mail today from SIR. Its a 1941 rifle, ce 41 stamped on the top. lots of proof marks. Looks like it has been to war then stored in a closet for fifty or so years, Exactly what i wasl ooking for my first Mauser. The bore looks good thanks to some good ole#9. I am far from an expert but Id say a decent deal.

Yes electropencilled serial numbers on the bolt, Trigger guard, magazine plate. Not on the buttplate though I suspect its not to the original rifle either. Would I be correct to assume this was done by the Russians when they were refinishing them?

Yes, the RC's are typically complete mixmasters except for barrel and receiver.
