The 30-30 club, are you in?

I traded a 94AE for a Savage 24F in 30/30 ovr 20 gauge. Sold the savage and bought a Marlin 336A. I think that is trading up.

I like the new Marlin. Looks great with my Marlin 1895 GS stainless 45/70

I dont have a 30-30 but I do own a M94 chambered in it's forgotton cousin, the 32 Winchester Special.

Does anybody know which of these two were developed first?

Nope, not so.

The Winchester Model 1894 came out initially in 32-40 and 38-55 first in 1894 because Winchester didn't have nickel-steel barrels available for the 30 WCF (30-30) and 25-35 WCF at the time the Model 1894 was introduced. (Source: Legacy of Leverguns)

A year later in 1895 when Winchester had nickel-steel barrels available, the 30 WCF and the 25-35 WCF were introduced. (Source: Legacy of Leverguns)

The last member of the five original model 1894 cartridges, the .32 Winchester Special was introduced in 1902 as it was first mentioned in the 1902 Winchester factory catalog that year. (Source: Mick McPherson in Speer's Reloading Manual #14)

yes your right about 30wcf in 1895 and i am wrong. my speer reloading manual says 1895 for the 32 spl and so does my NRA reloading manual, 4 other books say 1902, 1904, 1905, 1910. safe to say it's over 100 years old and a great cartridge

1 for now

it took me a while to find a nice one, but i found a model 64 at Epps years ago. nice lyman reciever sight. mint shape as per epps. sweet old rifle. accurate too.

Had Trappers in 30:30 and .44mag but sold them to buddies who use them a lot more than I did, Sale with a 1950's 94 in .32 win spl.

Have a tarted up Marlin Guide Gun in .45-70 and a '94 Trapper in .44 mag for use in heavy bush. Had the cross bolt receiver hammer block safety abortion but the previous owner removed it . anybody know of a shop that sells filler screw heads to cover the hole?

30-30s I guess I can join your club John, I have one in a Sav Short Rifle 1899, & one 94 Saddle Ring Winny . Do .32s count? Pretty much exactely the same thing. One Winny 1894 1/2mag,T/D, one pristeen M-64 made in 54, & one long Hex barrel.

Bought 2 Win 94's a few years back. Gave one to my best friend. Iam I a bad friend for taking the front sight hood off his and putting it on mine? :D
The one i kept looks to have been made in 1939 but i could be wrong.
Correction 1948, its in the 1500000 range.

Win '94. It was the first gun I ever got, bought it off my uncle when I was 14?, maybe 15. To this day it is one of my favorites.

I'm in, with my Winchester Model 94 30-30 carbine made in 1954. It is my all-around travel gun when I'm canoeing in the wilderness and in the trunk of my car when I'm travelling. I also bagged two 8-point Whitetail bucks last year with it.

I was going to wait until I got some pictures but I guess you all already know what they look like.

My first rifle purchase almost a year ago (I'm really new to the shooting sport) was a Glenfield/Marlin lever gun. The one with the embossed checkering and rabbit. Then a short while later I got a Winchester 94 passed on to me through a friend's father in law who was moving into an assisted living apartment so would not need it any more. I've enjoyed both of them so much that there's no question of selling them anytime soon. I've commited to reloading the .30-30 as I enjoy shooting them so much and often. In fact I like this round so much that I'm sort of looking around for a bolt gun as a companion.

I don't hunt at this point but the Glenfield is likely going to get a scope and I'm going to reload some boat tail .308's for some Metallic Silhouette shooting to try it out. For obvious reasons only two rounds at a time will be loaded. One will be chambered right away and the spare left in the magazine for the second shot of the string. I'm hoping that the finer shape of the bullet will assist with gainingg a little more velocity and less drop over the 300 yards I'll be shooting.

Meanwhile the 94 is one of the best reasons I know of for wearing a cowboy hat. They are fantastic for catching the brass before it kabongs off my noggin... :D
