I picked up a Marlin 336SS in 30-30 from the EE & I like it.

It did have sharp edges on the lever, but a quick trip to my local gunsmith fixed that...

One day it will be gifted to my daughter if she has any interest in the Shooting Sports.

Cheers

What? Where? I take it he hasnt listed it on the EE.

Had a weak moment and picked up a CIL 871 (nee Savage 170) for a good price. Still trying to figure out how to take it apart for a thorough cleaning and lubricating. It won't make for deer season this year, but definitely next year once a red dot takes up residence on top.

My wife bought me my first gun, a Marlin 336BL for my 30th birthday  back about 5 years ago. I added a set of Skinner sights (ghost ring), the super rare:p XS Scout rail onto which I mounted a Hi-Lux 2x7 Scout Scope, and Wild West Trigger Kit. I love this little fire breather.

Took my first deer with it back in 2012 at 80-100 yards running with 160gr. Hornady Leverevolution. I was blown away with how easy it was to track the deer on the move with the scout set-up.

Since then, I've had a Sako Black Bear in .30-06 that I loved and hunted with, but sold because I felt bad dinging it up in the bush (I do miss it though :( ). Replaced the Sako with a Savage 10 in .308 which I recently took to the range and realized I just like shooting my lever more.

So, this year when I head out, I'm packing my trusty 336. It'll do everything I need it to do, cost about 1/2 of what I had into the Sako and I won't feel bad if I trip into a ravine and bang it up. A banged up lever has stories to tell.

Happy Shooting

My first Centerfire was a new 336ss that I converted to a straight grip.

Since then I've had dozens of 30-30 go through my hands, and have used a few for Blacktail. There's just something about a compact barreled lever action, chambered in a light recoiling round that feels right.

That feeling of pulling back the hammer before setting off the trigger........ ahhhhhhh :)

My lastest 30-30 variant: 336BL with Skinners

Wow just found out that it can't be a 1947 because they only made them until 1922-23. Marlin Model 1893. This one is prob. 1918 with the serial # of D1033?
1953 Winchester model 64 24in barrel, 1987?? Winchester trapper model 94AE 16in. barrel. All in 30-30 cal.

A remlin ‘rep’ 336ss is our claim to 30-30 fame if that is acceptable?
Would have preferred a real ‘jm’ but the stainless ones are rare as chickens teeth and when you find one that isn’t a beater they want a kings ransom.
We tuned it up real good and it is about 90% jm in appearance, fitting, general workmanship and pretty darn close to 100% in accuracy and functionality.
The deer my #2 nephew shot with it this fall I’m sure couldn’t tell the difference.

We need a 45-70 club so I can enter our remlin 1895gs.
A reject we got cheap and fixed up with new wood from boyds.
The old wood had the crappy 2 dimensional shadow checkering (no depth like it was painted on) and was split near the tang cheeks.
