The $75 Norc SKS, 300 meters on Irons.

On a side note, I can no longer mount my go-pro cam that close to a steel target. I'm still picking bullet fragments out of the protective case.

I thought you had a camera zoomed in from a distance. Yes I could see the fragments fly as the bullet splatters. Interesting to note the "zing" sound when you missed. Is that the sound of the bullet whizzing by?

I don't go on the 300 there at EESA very often as I usually just use iron sights and I'm incredibly near sighted but after seeing this, I might try a couple of my SKS's there and give 'er a go

The zing when I missed is interesting. Some times it's a snap, sometimes a zing. Actually the sound is pretty cool, you can here the miss or hit on the plate just before you can hear the report of the shot. Not sure about sound dynamics, but that bullet is certainly moving at quite a clip.

I had the camera mounted on the left plate, so it was pretty close to the action.

Maybe the zing noise is the air displacement behind the bullet hitting the plate?

Take a can of flourescent orange spray paint with you to the range - instant visible plate and you can see how you're grouping!

If I had to guess, maybe 16" wide by 20" or so long. There are three gongs there. There are 2 large ones, and then the middle one I was shooting at. They are at EESA, so maybe if a member in the know sees this post, he/she will know the actual dimensions. The small plate is no bigger than a torso.

Interesting that they used mild steel to shoot at. Nonetheless, great shooting!

Nice shooting! I got my Nork SKS a few years back for 160 bucks and its no slouch in the accuracy department. Fit and finish, and wood arent spectacular, but shes a shooter.
