Call me dumb

Errrrr Ummmmmm, OK.....

I'm "another dumb hail marry hillbilly

You said it, not me...

I'm not sure what you saying

I figured that...

Not being a ####

No????

Or you guys also live in the real world?

Sure do..A place where I have taken a couple tripples, a hand full of doubles, to where I had to make 1,2,3, and 4 shots count...

Why did Remington drop the 308 Carbine in the Pump and semi configurations and stick with the 30-06 only?
Probably because the 30/06 is more popular and the actions are the same length anyways. Also, it would be cheaper to carry one chambering than two.

That's not a perfect broadside shot with a bolt action off a rock solid rest, surely that deer didn't die instantly what the hell is wrong with you?! Terrible hunter! Terrible!!

I love real life guns and shots like that! Got and pictures of the exit in the neck from that 270?:D

Very nice weapon and buck my good sir;)

Sorry, no pics of the exit wound....the bullet did not exit! All energy was absorbed, 60-70 yrd shot, bang flop.

Call me dumb but I'm not sure what you saying is I'm "another dumb hail marry hillbilly" Or you guys also live in the real world? Either way ill just say this...

Most people (Like myself) try to make every shot count weather it be one or all 5 at once there all intended to hit point of deer. Also I'd prefer it falls in a hurry rather then wading through water up to my giggle berries and tagalders I can barely see through tryin to find it.

Not being a ####, just sayin that's my food for the winter I want it down within sight! That being said the most shots at one time I ever rang out was 4 hit it with the first went in behind shoulder come out the brisket (how it kept goin your guess is as good as mine), third broke both shoulders and 4 finishing shot up close and personal behind the ear. He was goin full tilt but the first 3 shots took bout 3 seconds...That damn ash tree jumped in front of my bullet outta nowhere on the second shot!

thats what i was saying my friend. I think you read over the part where i said make your first shot count. what i was adressing is all the holier than though arses that will fire one shot and then watch the thing stumble around or let it run. Sure its dead but why not fire a quick second and have it down in sight. No where did i say machine gun through the bush and hope one round hits it somewhere.

Too bad. The shortness of the .308 avoids the problem being discussed in another thread; the problem of 7600's failing to eject live rounds due to long cartridge length.

On the other hand, imagine if there was such a thing as a short-action Model 7600 carbine in .308 & .243! Oh, to dare to dream!:D

Apologies my good sir, I was half asleep and got a bit mixed up:( I do agree watching it stumble or letting it run is cruel why not end it as fast as possible correct?

I can see if a deer is running through the bush, where you would take multiple shots but if it's standing or walking why not let it go down on it's own after one shot. Seems to work OK for bowhunters.

I have a 308 carbine barely shot...very very stiff and tight. Is this normal??

If its barely used it is, go out and blast off 2 or 3 boxes it'll limber up:cool:

Cause its nice to have respect for the animal and have it die right there rather then bleeding out? I don't know see what the other guys say maybe its just me.

Anybody bought a new 7600 lately??? Just wondering if there has been any issues. I'm looking at a 7600 synthetic.

The one factor that would keep me from buying Remington pump rifle is the trigger. Does anyone have experience with a good after market adjustable trigger with minimum creep & overtravel? I have seen one in the Brownell's catalog, but have no experience with it.

The factory triggers can actually be made pretty decent. A light polishing of the internals, and about one coil taken off the main spring will make the trigger a lot nicer. In addition you can drill and tap the trigger guard for an over travel screw, then you'll have a trigger as good as most bolt guns.

Nice bit of info...keep it coming :)

Hmm, bow hunters. Witnessed to many does and bucks hobbling around with an arrow stuck in them. One doe had two arrows in her, one in the neck and the second in her hind end. After the initial hit, and the deer is still standing or walking slowly I would put another bullet behind the shoulder or neck to relieve if from any more misery and pain. I guess that I'm fortunate that this has seldom happened to me.
