The 760/7600 Club

I owned a Model 6 270Win. Topped with a Leupold 2.5x8 Vari-X III
kicking myself for selling it.

I'd buy it back in a heartbeat!
Then, I'd buy a 760 Carbine (or get the barrel shortened) in 35Whelen or 358Win (did it ever come in 358Win?) and get a Skinner aperture site on it!

I was collecting the 760 and 7600 trying to get one of every caliper and got most of them
I know there is one 244 here since I sold it to a member when I down sized
IMO the rarest I had was the 760 in 222 and 223 and the 7600 in 7mm08
I kept the 7mm08

I've seen and owned more .222's and 223's than I have seen .244's. Only ever seen about 3 of them......and presently have one. I'd like to hear from this 760/7600 Club members who presently own a .244 with a .244 marked magazine....Cheers

Pretty sure 223 is the rarest of them all. I had no trouble finding a 244 . A 257 roberts also took me a few years to locate. Not counting the 35W carbine which I kept

I agree with Sean, the .223 was only supposed to have been made in early standard pressed checkered finish. That being said, it is the rarest caliber rifle in the 760 with only 2,723 being made. I was at an auction about 2 years ago where one in excellent condition went for $2000 dollars with 2 clips and a scope. This was in Pennsylvania where they are extremely collectable. Yours having the 5 diamonds stock will probably turn off some collectors. I haven't seen a .222 go up for sale recently, but I would still expect it to go somewhere north of $1300 on GB if it is in excellent condition. The .244 760's while being as rare as the .222 and .223 never seem to get the same price (probably because they were lousy shooters). I have seen some local asking prices under $1000, but if it was on GB I would expect more in excellent condition. I can't say for the 740 as I do not collect them. They are not as collectable as the 760's and even the rare calibers had a fair amount produced. As it goes with most guns, they are worth what someone will pay, lucky for you the ones you have are the ones that collectors want.

Only 3080 .244’s made from 56’-59’ which is probably why I’ve never seen one or it would be in my rack.
Rarest one I have is a .222R that was made in 1966 as a special run 1 of 200.
Front row is a .300Sav (custom wood), .222R, and a .6mm.

Looks like a covey of carbines in that flock of yours. Very nice looking collection…
 
2-.280, .270,308 and 30-06 missing the .35 Carbine but with only 456 manufactured its doubtful any even made it up here.
