I have owned my AG42B for a couple of years now. I absolutly love this gun !!! I recently picked up a very sweet Hakim and can't wait to do some reloads and get to the range. Thank you so for for your post, it's incredeble info for anyone with these guns !!!

I bought an AG42B thirty years ago that has something I have never seen on another one. It is a very low serial number and has a two piece cleaning rod. One half screws inside the other half. It is long enough to clean the barrel end to end. I will take pictures and post them.

Cheer !

Its a AG42 cleaning rod and your rifle maybe an AG42, not the improved AG42B. Please post pics soon as possible:)

2 piece cleaning rod might be a pretty cool find. I've owned mine for 25 years, and have seen quite a few....I'm kind of guilty of not even checking the cleaning rods though. Do you have "knobs" or "slashes" on your receiver cover(serves a charging handle)? I think the gas tube changed too, from ag-42 to ag-42B.

Looking forward to pictures too! All of these are beautiful to me!

I think some of them slipped through with varying degrees of upgrading.

I have 3 Ag42s. My last one ( I think I'm going ot wind up rebarrelling it as a project in a few years, she shoots good but is worn alot) has an aluminum sight drum (the other two have a much larger plastic one) It also has a blued steel gas-tube unlike my other two with stainless tubes.

I'm just waiting to get my Hakim in the mail and I'm already looking at getting another AG42 after christmas.

I'm some glad my wife loves me enough to put up with this sickness I have

:D

Aluminum sight drum are found on AG42 initially, my AG42B dont have the stainless gas tube, its the older blued one.

Well, I have an AG42B posted for sale, after reading this I may just put it back on the rack, superb information, got it on trade, knew little about it other than it's built like a tank and heavy enough if you run out off ammo, just hit whatever on the head with it and it be dead!

I have not spent a lot of times browsing the forums, after reading this post I realize I am missing the gift of a lot of knowledge that members take the time to post, also kinda highlights my ignorance!

Really appreciate the post and your enthusiasm!

I just got my hands on a AG42b, no mag so looking for a magazine for it. GREAT thread, I now know how to take it apart and check it over. Not a spring chicken, but love to learn and shoot the 6.5x55. I have a custom M96 that I built and just love it, so had to give the semi a try. My son also loves to shoot my new finds and chases me everytime he sees me going, bullet size does not stop him hahaha. Thanks
