I got one with out a mag. It took a few months but I found one at Epps Discontinued supplies. They are a sweet gun, but hard on brass. Like most Millsurps Be patient you will find one
 
Just picked up an AG42. But I'm noticing the front upper handguard has a chunk missing out of it. I can order a replacement, but for the cost I'd rather just replace the chip and repair the missing piece myself.

My question is, does anyone know what the wood for these things is? As well as the finishing method?
 
Finally found some spare parts for the Rasheed on eBay

Cost me 56$ US, a bit steep but I've been told these are hard to get. So I jumped on it.

I think it's Beach wood.
 
I actually was out shooting mine yesterday. The TT33 pin I have in there works fine but I'd love to have an original pin.

Well the Extractor spring is from a Hakim, But looks like it would work if my other one ever broke, The firing pins are the same but the new spring is shorter. Was able to fit all the spare parts in the lightning cut :)

Lately I've been focused on completing the collection. Both of "Egyptian milsurps" and the "Ljungman line". I need a Hakim, lol.
 
Could anybody add cleaning recommended and how to size the chamber tool with what material ? I have a kit that the tool came bare without the thread material on it
 
I recently acquired a sporterised Rasheed �� And when I took the stock off there was no middle bushing...could anyone give me dimensions so I can build one?
 
I have an AG42B and I keep finding conflicting information about ammunition. Some sources warn about using new commercial manufactured ammunition others are saying it is fine to use modern loads. Is there any truth to avoiding regular new loads (PPU made) or is that fine?

Only ammo i shot with mine was Prvi stuff,139 gr FMJ and was long time ago and everything was fine. The main concern is that some commercials ammo might use slow burning powder and that can make too high pressure at the AG 42 gas port,leading to somewhat brutal ejection/malfunction since the AG doesnt have gas regulator(but can be made ). I would only use 140gr bullet or lighter or if you are a reloader,using a faster powder would help greatly. The other concern might be about the soft primer on commercial ammo and slamfire hazzard. The AG firingpin is spring loaded wich should prevent slamfire. Never got issue with that yet.
 
Depends on the brand. If it's federal or winchester forget it. Too hot.

I've had luck with BELL (no longer produced I don't think) and Hornady factory ammo.
