I want to believe this is true so badly, but I can't let myself believe it.
I
can believe that the Cons will float the idea of removing the AR-15 from the Restricted list as something they will look at doing if we re-elect them next year. If that's the case, they can blow their promises outta their asses because they already had plenty of time in power to make it happen and anything they say they'll do to the Firearms Act if re-elected in 2015 is simply an empty campaign promise that they have no intention of honouring. If they had any intention of doing it, they would have done it by now.
Besides, I really can't see the Cons winning in 2015, at least not a majority. I think Harper has pissed off enough of his base and JT has and will razzle-dazzle enough dreamers to give the Libs more than a fighting chance in 2015. And before you attack me, I'm
not saying I
want the Libs to win, I'm saying I think they will... with no help or vote from me.
However, removing AR-15s from the Restricted list
now would probably go a long way to securing votes for the Cons in 2015. First off, it would make thousands of firearms enthusiasts happy as clams. Secondly, it would result in a massive increase in sales for firearms retailers, which is great for the economy. Thirdly, with Colt Canada wanting to start selling civilian variants of the C7 and C8 rifles as early as this summer, having them classed as Non-Restricted would greatly increase the sales of a Canadian company's product, which is better still for the Canadian economy.
So, Conservatives, we implore you to do the right thing and pass legislation as soon as possible that will remove the AR-15 from the Restricted list. Do it for your firearms-owning supporters and do it for the Canadian economy!
