The Battle Rifle Pictures Thread

Not sure if a mini 30 counts as a battle rifle, but its got the lineage...

It's a Hera HRS buttstock, the storage compartment is removed for that skeletonized look. And Phil, you're right about the scope mount, it is totally unnecessary and adds a little bit of weight

If it is a solid, return to zero QD mount...it is nice to be able to remove a scope and be able to really break the gun down for compactness when stored/traveling tho...worth a little extra weight IMO.

This is my rifle, this is my gun...

Okay...at last I have some worthy entries for this space. It's taken a while...

The upper rifle is a DPMS LR-308 AP4; in addition an Ergo grip, a 3.5#CMC straight trigger, an Anderson 16" barrel, Aero Precision 12" handguard and a Matador Arms Hammerhead flash hider/comp. I just got this finished up _yesterday_ so no significant report as to accuracy, but it definitely functions. That's a Bushnell TRS-25 for sights...I'll be scoping this RSN.

The second rifle I'm rather proud of...sourced all the parts over a couple of years. Ergo grip on an Aero Precision M5 lower, with a Geissele BG-E 2-stage trigger. It may not be Geissele's best/most expensive trigger, but it's pretty darn good. That's a Luth-AR rifle stock...very solid stock and an excellent value. Upper receiver and BCG is by Ares Armor...excellent quality, too bad the company is now defunct [changed names, and don't appear to be manufacturing major parts any more]. Ballistic Advantage 20" barrel, Matador Arms Flarestack compensator/flash hider and an Aero Precision 15" handguard [yes, I really like them]. Bushnell 6500 Tactical Elite 2.5-16X scope...very decent scope that will do until the day arrives that I'm shooting farther than 500yd. I fired that 100yd. target with this gun just last night, and for a preliminary test, it did very nicely, and I could have tried harder and done better, I'm pretty sure. Next time I take it slower, get a better rest and not have the sun in my eyes. Unfortunately the ammo I was using...Hornady SteelMatch 155gr... is no longer available [I have 40 rounds left], so I'll have to find, or create a better load for it.

Here's my whole AR family... On the bottom is a 7.62x39 AR-15 built on an Anderson Manufacturing lower...3.5# CMC curved trigger. The upper I bought altogether from Marstar. I don't know who made it, but it performs quite decently. S&J hardware linear comp on the barrel. Bushnell AR/300 1-4x scope.

Up top, Shorty is my only .223/5.56 AR. Upper and lower receiver and the barrel are by Aero Precision [yes, I really like those guys], Ergo grip and and Magpul carbine handgrip...Geissele Single stage trigger, but I forget the exact one. Flip-up iron sights by Aero Precision [yup] and for a short barrelled PDW, the Minimalist stock is just right. Bushnell AR/223 1-4x scope. Very eager to give this a try in 3-gun next year.

All four of these are pretty much exactly what I want in AR rifles. I may do a little tweaking as time goes on, but except for scopes and sights, they are pretty much in their final form. Now I just have to learn to shoot them up to their potential.

New to me, FAMAE SG 542-1 with some extra goodies.

If anyone is thinking about putting an ACR stock and adaptor on a 542 as seen above, they work great. HOWEVER, if you're thinking about this setup for a 540 or 543, don't... the receiver on the 5.56 versions isn't as long behind the pistol grip, and the adapter digs into your hand. FYI.
