So, this past weekend, me and a few pals decided to test out our Darwin memberships and drove out in the snow to do a little plinking. We got to Squamish and managed to get maybe 1/4 way up our hill, hit ice, and got stuck. Nearly lost one of our trucks off the side of the edge as the guys on snowmobiles buzzed passed, pointing and laughing.

So, we spent an hour un-fukking ourselves, drove away with our tails between our legs and stomped around the valley looking for a safe place to plink. We managed to find a spot, and by the time we set up, we had maybe 15 minutes of light left before we had to pack it all in.

I'm afraid it doesn't photograph well, a black rifle, on white back ground and minimal light.

The M14 isn't exactly a featherweight, but it's kind of a pig when it's sitting in the EBR chassis. Honestly though, I really just need to get in better shape and stop whining, hahahaha!

Although it was a torso sized gong, and it was only at 150m, we were losing light fast and I was really struggling getting rounds on steel. With the weight of the rifle, I had a hard time holding the reticle still, even on such a large sized target. Better hit the gym a bit more.

Hard to tell, but the gong is out there, haha!

Great pics!

Thousands of rounds later and no issues with a Zeiss 3-9x. Using an M14.ca aluminum mount.

Oh it's only been a year since I mounted it. Time will tell but they're apparently provided on M82's or something so I think it'll be okay.

I've got the CASM from m14.ca on mine too had a guy from wolverine supplies tell me just recently that 2 years is kind of the max, for a scope which is what I've been getting, so i got a crossfire 2 6-18 mainly for the liberal return policy, i do have a zeiss 3.5-10 in the cabinet, and have had red dots of various sorts on there.

another interesting point on it was that he told me that because of the gas system on the m14's that a quality air rifle scope, holds up better than anything because of the way they're made. he suggested, wolf if i remember correctly. i just don't want to keep replacing optics. for obvious reasons.

m82's dont destroy optics like the m14. its kind of a unique problem to the platform

M1 Garands have been my favorite gun since I first laid eyes on one, I've been watching this thread for a long time and finally bought a Springfield M1A standard from a fellow Canadian Gun Nut. He had the arms #18 mount installed.

Waiting for my ATRS rings to show up I went out and was shooting bottles at 100m with the irons, it was a super windy day and I think I missed 3 out of 24 shots, needless to say I was impressed. I can't wait to see how it groups on paper after the glass is installed. I also have a Tac Pro cheek riser on the way for that proper cheek weld. More pics to come soon.!
