The Beretta CX4 Thread

You pushed me over the edge. I ordered the trigger kit. Looks like it may be a number of weeks before getting it.
Pricy little set up, esspecially with the dollar.

Alright you cx4 experts. I'm back, albeit 7 months after my last cx4 post. Finally got around to re-adjusting the SP trigger screw to solve my fail to fire (which is actually a random fail to reset the trigger) problem. Unscrewed the trigger screw to allow more slack, reinstalled it all, and the trigger reset on the work bench every time. Took it to the range (hours out in the bush) and it fired a single round then would not reset with live ammo. It only fired one round and I could not get it to reset again, at least with a magazine and live rounds. I could get it to reset every time WITHOUT a mag installed.

Any wise clues that I can use to help trouble shoot this problem?

You bet. Tte metal clip is installed. Odd thing is that I "increased" the trigger slack, and it's now not functioning. Maybe I'll just have to call Sierra Papa direct for advice.

Unless something in the trigger assembly has broken?, but I can't see any damage.

yea email Sierra Papa, and if they can't fix it with email, they will either call you or have you call them.

Before I installed the metal clip in mine, it did almost exactly like what yours is doing. It took a bit to figure it out, but what was happening is that when you ran the action by hand, it worked fine but the jolt of running the bolt from the energy of the cartridge, the hammer would fall just as the bolt started to go forward, rendering it a single shot carbine.

its working fine since then.

one other thing I did was to shim the front surface of the trigger "bathtub" there is fore and aft play in that assembly. Just a piece of card stock cut to size. No more noticeable play. this may come into the equation

Did you see my post on the previous page on how to adjust the SP trigger step-by-step?

I have never had any problems at all.

Oops- forgot to update. I spoke with Sierra Papa and he helped me realize that one of the trigger reset spring “legs” was not properly in place. I added a little more bend, put it back into place and it now functions flawlessly again....Thanks all

I finally own one of these. I have known about how great they are for a long time but just never got around to getting one. Since it has the old Bubba DIY paint job I am going to sand it a bit and make it look "battle worn".

Well, with a well placed shot, even .22 LR will take down a deer. For a close shot, a 9 mm will do the job, but I think it is not the best choice for quickly and humanly killing a deer.

Inside of 50 yards it will do the job just fine. People underestimate it's capability. If I can help it I would like it to have a bit more oomph behind it though.

Problem with the 9 mm case is it is so small, most slow burning powders will result in highly compressed loads sending pressures off the map with normal 115g or 124g bullets. I know I looked into it with my own CX-4. Might be better looking at lighter bullets to increase muzzle velocity with normal loads. I have some 90 grain bullets that zip out pretty hard. No idea of actual muzzle velocity as I don't have a chronograph, but betting 1500 fps plus. Hornady 90 gr XTP. 7.2 grains of Power Pistol shows 1400 out of a pistol, so out of a CX-4, should get you to 1500 fps easily.

Thank you sir, that is the reply I was looking for.

Greetings
