The best I've ever shot

25m is for making sure you're on paper.

Or for fun, or for practice, or for why the fvk not.
Where's your group? ;)

Nice shooting op, keep at it.
Anything can be used for a rear bag, fill a sock with jellybeans if you have to. I'd think any gun store would have something in the form of a bag though. That said, scrap the bag, fold up the pod, and get on your feet. Shoot the rifle in the style it was made. Dump some mags and make it glow. It's more better...:)

I have another AR set up for that (with red dot & magnifier, afg) and the DD is set up for bench. I enjoy shooting bench a lot more.

Rear bags are largely a matter of personal preference especially if it is only for bench rest (so weight is not an issue). I like the Protektor leather bunny ear bags.

They are heavy (good for benchrest), the ears allow one to micro-adjust POA by squeezing the ears and leather just looks/feels good and lasts. The downside is that I wouldn't want to use these anywhere off the range.

I had a photo of my groups from the weekend (including the best I have ever shot) but you know what, you're right.

OP with that laser beam you've got, go ahead and try it at any range - you're good to go.

Glad you had fun though, honestly thats what this is all about anyway.
I'm also super happy you own an AR, we need more people like you!

Yes. That said people can become members, at which point they are members.

ORA accepts guests too. Check their website for practice dates (they will be limited again this year) or if you want to do some shorter range shooting, check the ORA CQB dicipline. Information in the Service Rifle sub-forum.

You can always come out to watch or just come try it out (shooters are helpful with newbies).
Do a google search on ORA CQB, you will find some youtube vids from matches to give you an idea of some of the stuff involved in the course of fire.

BTW - 100 yds is quite close for a rifle. You will have no problem hitting paper with that rifle and that load.

my scope is a leupold mark ar mod-1 3-9x. is that enough or do i need higher magnification?

I've used my fixed 3X to hit Fig 11 (man sized) targets at 600m at a Precision Rifle event. Regularly shoot to 500 with the same scope for Service Rifle. Your 3-9 is lots.

I recommend zeroing your vertical adjustment for 100 yrds. All your adjustment for range (closer or farther) will be up (that is you will dial your elevation up to shoot at 200, 300 etc. Also you will dial up to hit point of aim, point of impact at 50, 25, 15, 10 yds)

So, right now you are zeroed at 25 yds. You will actually adjust your scope down to hit dead on a 100 when you get out to shoot that distance. I can't remember off the top of my head the adjustment with enough confidence to post it here. No point in giving you bad information.
