Browning BAR 30-06

First time I took it to the range, I thought I had a dud on my hands. Bench rested, lined up my first shot and pulled the trigger, crisp and clean break. Took out my bino's and looked at my targert, looked like i never hit it. Asked the guy to my left to take a look with his spotters scope, he just looked at me and smiled. Says I don't think you can do better then that, come take a look. Perfect shot, bullseye dead centre. Can't go wrong for $350 and $15 more to replace the buffer pad. :dancingbanana:

Well...... SO far the best gun I have ever owned is a Dakota Predator in 6ppc. Butter smooth action, stupidly accurate, and handles like a dream! Has accounted for about a dozen deer in the past 3 years with various people shooting it, as well as a whole bunch of smaller critters. But as someone mentioned already....I'm not done yet!;):D

Gotta love those perfect range days don't ya. ;)

Currently my favorite one is this Wichita Model 1375, single shot target rifle, with Kreiger 1:13 twist in .308 Winchester.
On a good day, I can hold MOA out to 300 meters, (with a supported rest) during practice, using the diopter peep sights.
It's one sweet long gun to shoot!

Savage 99 in .300 Savage. Not my most accurate gun. Fussy on what I feed it. Tempermental. Bought it off a used rack for 275 bucks on a whim. Having said that it is a dream to carry in the woods and after being a Safe Queen for 5 years I shot a 24" 5 point that pushed 160. Best buck in 25 years of hunting. Not my best but definitely my favorite.

My most accurate target rifle is a Savage model 12 with heavy fluted barrel and Choate stock.

Here's what it does at 100 yds. A dime doesn't totally cover the five holes, but almost.

My favourite hunter is my Browning Stainless Stalker in 300 Win Magnum. It's a tight shooter even with Wally World factory ammo, it has a silky bolt and crisp trigger. Not a light rifle to carry all day but worth it. See my avatar!

An intersting poll - so many choices so I broke down my thoughts as follows:

Most accurate ( and expensive ) : my Sako TRG 22 with '5 inside a dime' consistent not once-in-a-blue-moon results;

Best Value/Accuracy combo: Savage 10FP in .223 in Choate stock

Most Pure Fun: CZ858 Tactical (accurate, cheap to shoot)

Fav Hunting: Remington 700 BDL Custom DeLuxe in .270

Most Fun to Tinker with: my Norinco M1A ( oh the potential arrrg, the frustration )

But my never-sell would have to be my old 'Wood and Iron' all matching 1953 Springfield M1 Garand :)

I only own excellent quality firearms. Please don't take that as an elitist's statement. I've never had a problem with any of my guns, except for my very first gun (which I doubt I could sell if I tried, it's pretty much dead to me).

My top picks are my Robinson Arms XCR in .223 (never a single malfunction and quite accurate) and my Fabarm Martial 12ga. (rock solid shotgun). I would trust both with my life, but due to the simplicity of design and value... I would have to say the Fabarm takes the win.

I had to vote other. I have a Thompson encore that I have fallen in love with. Its super accurate, the trigger is good, and with the synthetic stock its a real hunters type of gun.(Not worried to go into the thick bush for fear of scratches) As a lefty, the style of gun works for me also.

There doesn't seem to be a very big following here with these rifles. The guys that I have seen with these guns really like them though. They don't seem as mainstream as the Rem 700's or winchester 70's. Its not for everybody to hunt with a single shot firearm. Just my two cents.

I don't know if it is the Best rifle that I own, but I have shot a lot of moose, deer and bear with it. Has no problems in any way. Parker Hale 1200C 300 Win. Mag. And looks pretty nice too. :)

t-star got mine in the first response "Other TRW M-14." Never owned an FN FAL, nor a BAR, so no contest. What's not to like? Modern cartridge, can use 20 round mag, even if I can't own one, adequate accuracy for target appropriate range, shoots all day, and builds physical stamina in those who lug all 9 some pounds of it around! Too bad it has to hide in shame in a locked gun safe, (damn Alan Rock) but still a "best rifle."

My remington model 788 in a 7/08 ccarbine> I bought it with a stright 4x weaver scope and the gun had a trigger job done to it as well. paid $400.00 for it and it is a very good shooting gun, not as pretty as some others but I have a custom stock coming for ti now.
