This thread has made me feel like a cartridge slut. Rifles are in and out of rotation on a regular basis. I've had a number of .30-06's, but no single rifle has stayed more than 10 years. Other calibers, like the .270, I've tried, discarded, retried, discarded again, and now I'm on my third. I have a semi-finished custom 7x57 that's been at the smiths so long I'm not sure he remembers its still mine. That one, if both of us live long enough to see it completed, will have had the longest staying power, and I'm planning on having it buried with me.

I've had a .303 Brit of one kind or another for 23 years. Shot my first deer with one, and I'll likely always own something in that calibre. My go-to deer rifle is chambered in .250-3000 Savage, but I've only had that chambering for 11 years.

My 12 ga Remington 870 is the only one that I have had for a notable amount of time. Got it when I turned 18. I am 24 now. So 6 years.
I have a 7x57 thats been sitting around for about 3 years and a 300 wsm for about as long.

I've had grandpa's 760 gamemaster 30-06 since the early 70's...don't think it's been out hunting since the early 80's. It gets its yearly clean and oil and that's about it. :)

303Br
Dates from the end of WWII when father bought it after the war for deer hunting.
Other than that, probably 30WCF it's go better than 40 years, or maybe the old Remington model 10 12 gauge if you consider a shot shell a big game cartridge. some time in the 1960's for that.

30-06 the longest reign, without a doubt. 50 calibre muzzle loader the longest in use now.
Like many, the .303 British was my go to cartridge for my first 10 years.
