The big game chambering with the longest uninterrupted reign in your safe

I started with a sporterized 303 for the first couple years, then carried a Win 100 in 308 for over twenty years. As of today, I'll be using a Browning 7mm from now on.

Longest uninterrupted taken out hunting is a 375H&H. Probably about a 14 year stretch with the exception of a hunt where the old weaver scope fogged and I had to take the 308, and for coyotes after November. Although the 375 has taken a good number of coyotes with minimal fur damage. Didn't plan on using it that much, but it worked so good and the balance of the rifle allows me to shoot it very well. Second is probably a tie between 308, 25-06, 7 rem mag, and 270wsm, at about 3 or 4 years each.

Five that have been there since I first started legally possessing (some which I had before then) in 1972:

.22 Model 39 Cooey (many other .22s have come; some have stayed)
30/06 Sako (others of that caliber of various persuasions)
30/06 Husqvarna Featherweight
358 Norma Magnum Husqvarna
30 US Winchester Model 1895

My oldest is a custom Mauser built on a 1939 German action in 270 Win. bought it in 1976 changed stocks a few times over the years the action and barrel remain untouched

Started with an old .303 then went to a 30/30 then tried a 30-06, .270 but always ended back with a 30/30. Have shot many more but this may not be the same as owning where you spend time with a rifle.
Just bought a new Marlin. Best all around rifle for me but I do not live where I need the long shot very often and am not a fan of distance hunting. For the most part 40 years with the lever action my go to for hunt/trap.

I have bought and sold so many rifles over the years it is hard to keep count but the gun that still remains in the safe is the custom 257wby Corlane Sports built for me over 20 years ago.I have shot so much game with that gun coyotes, wolf, elk, moose, deer if you can see your target you can hit it,it shoots so flat and with a 100 grain barns x it will kill anything in North America.I have yet to recover a barns x bullet

I started off hunting with a 30-30, it's still here, rarely used any more, but still here, and a 308 has been here for almost the same length of time, also rarely used any more.

.308 Win about 20 years. I could see the .223, .30-06 and .375 H&H keeping it company for the next 30 years. I wouldn't need much else in centrefire chamberings for field and target use..

.303 British in a Churchill sporterised Enfield No 4. Had it for 8 years, not long but I only started shooting 10 years ago. it was given to me by a dear old friend, so it will never be sold.

Dad's old savage 99M in 308. He bought it at the local hardware store in the mid 50's. I acquired it upon his death about 10 years ago and I just gave it to my nephew a month or so back so might not be in the cabinet but it has now crossed 3 generations

I think the current winner, for me, is .300 H&H.

Actually, I think that's very cool. It never occurred to me before now that this one has the longest uninterrupted reign in my gun rack.

Longest lasting for me is the Husqvarna 30-06 in my gun room. Well used, but in perfect functional condition. I bought it in 1949, which by the way, w as well before the 308 came into existence.
