What a great thread and contest --- can't believe I missed this earlier! I'll definitely be following closely for the fall bear season!

Not an entry, but here's my Spring 2018 bear, which was my best hunt so far as it included my 12 yr old daughter!

I wrote a bit about it in another thread: https://www.canadiangunnutz.com/for...spring-bear-season-success!-*Picture-warning*

Taken at 50 yds with a Sako AV Fiberclass Handy rifle in 300WM:

I left the skull in the bush under some rocks and returned two weeks later to find it almost completely clean. It's been sitting in a 5 gal pale of water since for further cleaning, then have to read up on degreasing and whitening.

I've been bitten hard by the hunting bug, so after some sporadic last few years, I'm getting focused on spending some serious time in the field. The first tastes of this bear were incredible... looking forward to eating more.

And I don't know if it's just my 43 year old body, but I was hitting the ibuprofen hard the next day --- dragging this bear out by myself kicked my butt, but felt great to get it done.

Awesome Stirling, wonderful to get it done with your daughter too!

In my defense, that isn't a smile. A black fly flew up my nose. ;)

As an aside; if someone happened to be interested in some truly giant; basically unhunted coloured bears we could probably hook you up.
