Thanks Phil, and I cautioned the hunter he'd get a 9' with the Ruger, a guaranteed 10 with the H&H. He didn't heed the advice.
Sooo about a foot more bear per inch of cartridge is what your saying?
(starts pricing out a .470 Nitro Express)

Naw the biggest ones just prefer to die with class.

I should rephrase, they prefer to die with dignity.

Now Hirsch, if one was to fire that cartridge from a square bridge Rigby Mauser bolt gun you MAY actually attain enough class to qualify for a big bear.........but who's going to chamber a Rigby for THAT cartridge.......Better off to just buy a Rem/CZ/Win in the H&H and go get a monster.........why tempt fate and mess with the Gods !!!!!
Indeed as much as I enjoy playing the game here the .375 Ruger is a great cartridge, I cannot be a fan of the H&H and pretend the Ruger slinging the same bullets is somehow inferior. The Ruger has proven it has staying power and while it will never come close to being "The" .375 magnum, it is absolutely as good as the H&H in any rifle that feeds reliably.
This all said I've played with a couple .375 Rugers in the Alaskan and the big fat cartridge definitely doesn't feed as smoothly as an H&H. Many would say "And so what?" and still have a point. The Ruger's claim to fame is it fits in a standard action, but so does the H&H (Winchester, Remington, Kimber, Sako, Montana, infinite custom Mausers, and more have all put them in their standard long action). In the end I see it as a well exploited commercial opportunity that works quite well.
It's all that tapered goodness that make them feedworthy, Just picked up two boxes worth, made my day. Grabbed a VX2 while I was at it. Life is good.![]()
Lol...... Hurts the wallet doesn't it?..... Those rounds are not cheap..... I have never paid such close attention to where my brass goes before...... Where did you order the cz from?
Good luck Jongun
I hope to get at least one more try in this year.
Ted..........you're confused, that's not a black bear...........that's black bear food. Bears are big and furry and usually inhabit dry land............now go out and try again, and try to get it right this time !!!
Nice laker by the way...........
