The black bear king of the internet thread.

CFBMI I think you are exactly correct about more glassing and less walking. This will not be my last kick at the can this season.

C-90 ..........AB has lots of blackies, you don't need to drive way up north. My buddy out by Vilna used to shoot 3 a week off his own property in the spring. Just get to where you can glass the south facing river hills of the south Sask river and you'll find lots of blackies and some big ones!!!!!!!

^ Albertans have a very skewed perception of North. Anything north of Edmonton is considered a northern wasteland. The South Sask is still too far north a voyage atm. A short vacation to Edmonton may be in order; southern Alberta has a dearth of hunt-able public land.

Funny thing is there are bears in my backyard (ok not literally I have to remember who I'm talking to), but I would likely be set upon by a pack of hippies if I shot one and tried to haul it off the mountain.

Hippies..........in Alberta..........no, say it ain't so !!!!!!!!!!!!! You have to remember where I'm at, you want to see hippies.........I'll ship you a couple thousand and that wouldn't even put a dint in the population around here.........We have an agreement though, they don't bug me and I don't shoot them........;);););)
They really love my range in my pasture, especially when I set up and spend ALL afternoon shooting high power rifles...........:d:d:d:d:d:d

You should see the music festivals around this country..........they attract "the more sensitive sect" of our population by the thousands.
I stated, amongst a crowd of these people, one time, that I was sorry for being late for the event because I just got back from a successful sheep hunt. A young lady promptly called me "an insensitive, red-necked, male chauvinist pig". For which I thanked her for noticing and pointing out so many of my positive attributes at one time, in such a public and crowded forum and carried on my way. I smiled as she spluttered and stuttered and didn't have a "come back" what-so-ever........It was truly priceless and got quite a chuckle from the crowd.

Anyway C_90 you are a young guy and have plenty of life ahead of you to kill black bears when your financial situation improves.......despair not, all will work out, time is always your friend............until you get old like me !!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not too concerned; I am learning a lot about the huntable areas around here at least. And it is always good to get out there. Thanks for your kind words.

c-fbmi,

Are you on the island? The place with the most hippies has to be Salt Spring though Quadra/Cortez get a close second, then Sunshine Coast. I'm trying to get the kids buzzed about bear but they're on the fence still(they don't really want to eat it...still too much elk in the freezer).

PS don't forget to take pics of your trophy room when it's done

Jealous,

Willy

Come get the King of the Internet on the North Coast. ;) And I take gun trades.

My brother called looking for work and I'm headed out anyhow guiding grizz, figured if someone wants to cover the boat cost I'll drop them off with a wall tent and junior guide in the Great Bear Rainforest for a week.

I miss old "post military, no kids Brad"...... That guy would rather have lost his job than miss this opportunity....... Lol.....

Damn these kids and the job it takes to feed them and still feed my pursuits while putting a roof over our heads!.....lol

How about if I throw in an eighty dollar bottle of scotch with the bear? ;) You don't want that job that badly!

Give me a few minutes to compute how to tell the ex that I tossed aside a stable six figure income and that she will no longer receive child support because I buggered off for a last minute bear hunt and a bottle of scotch....... Will let you know as soon as the puzzle is solved..... :) ..... Do you offer some sort of "death upon return insurance?".... I made the mistake of teaching her to shoot..... :)
